What is a good bench press as compared to your weight?

Yup, I hear people give me these impossibly high pushup numbers and then see how they do it. Rep doesn't count if there aren't four points of contact with the floor on each down stroke (knees, nuts, nipples, nose) and if arms don't lock on the upstroke.

Well benching below your body weight isn't completely bad but could be improved. I'm a 15 year old freshman in highschool. I weigh 113 pounds and I do a lot of body weight chest workouts like push. Some where around 300-500 a night. I warm up with 115 pounds and do about 8-10 reps for my bench. The. I move up to 125 and do that about 5 or 6 times. Then I move up to 135 and do 2-4 reps. I max out at 150 pounds while doing 1 rep weighing 113 pounds. So benching your own body weight should be done if you are in good shape with your upper body.

I'm running about 65 miles a week right now. I weigh 155 lbs at 23 years old on a 5'10" frame. I just benched 2 x 165, 2 x 175 lbs at the end of my workout. Is this average runner strength?

I heard:

bad - anything below your weight

average - being able to bench your weight

good - weight plus 25%

excellent - double your weight

sound about right?

I detect sarcasm. But in all honesty I'm 5'9", have no idea what my sleeve length is. 3/4 miles 3 days a week is all I do now.

Did 255 at 170 while I was injured. Now that I'm training again I imagine maybe 225.

Watch it though, some of those old ones can be quite fiesty. I very much recommend setting the tinder profile discovery preferences to a high age. Especially if you're on this thread you probably have some nice firm pecs that the ol' cougars will love to snuggle up on.

I'm pretty sure the national average for bench is around 135lbs, so if you're above that then you are okay at bp for an amateur.

I weigh 135.6lbs and I maxed at 210lb on bench. I've been working out for about 7 weeks though and bench is my main workout. My max when I first started was 145lb so I've went up 65lbs. If you put in the work you'll see results.

I just benched 41 lbs. 2.5 times......BOOM

Gym standard is 135 x 10 with the bar 4 inches off the chest.

Anyone who can legitimately bench their body weight 10 times is pretty strong. Bar touches chest, no bouncing.

alright so im 125 lbs exactly and i did 175 5 times and im suprised to see what my max will be

I weigh 135 I can bench that roughly 20 times and my max right now is 225. Im currently 16 years old.
