You're getting away from the main idea here with your ad hominen attacks. If this generation is so deep and selfless and sacrificing then why is military recruiting way down, even from Desert Storm? As cited in posts above, the generations that fought in WWI and WWII served unwaveringly. Even though those who were drafted may have thought it was a bittersweet duty, they took it on without complaint. Contrast that with the Vietnam draft where people did everything they could to avoid doing their duty as citizens, from Bush's and Clinton's loopholes to hippies fleeing for Canada. If there were a draft today for Iraq or Iran or North Korea, you'd see the same thing happening, this generation would be at least as eager to avoid doing its duty as the boomers were to avoid Vietnam, probably even moreso.
