...or St. John Fischer
I guess I should make this clear so there is no wrong information or rumors given. I (Cohen Miles-Rath) am transferring to SUNY Geneseo this spring semester. I want to make it clear that my reason for transferring is nothing against St. John Fisher or the coaches there. I went to Fisher because I really liked the coaches and believed they would help me to succeed. After the xc season, they obviously helped me to succeed. I am transferring based on financial need. Geneseo is cheaper than Fisher and I need to save as much money as I can. Also, since the XC and Track & Field program at Fisher is a first year program, there were no training partners for me. Geneseo's distance program was really appealing because they would have runners I could train with in every distance. Those are the reasons to why I have decided to transfer. I decided to look into the college and made my decision based on my own interpretations of the college and program.

Cohen, you really should try and stay as far away from these messageboards as much as possible while you're in college. They will only serve to frustrate and annoy you. Just some advice.
Add Question 11:
Oneonta seems to have a lot of guys from one high school- Maine-Endwell. What's up with that?
Are they any good?
OK- that's 12 Questions.

Except that Geneseo is full of kids from middle-class homes. They choose to go to a LESS expensive school for a reason

He was talking about their running program, not their parents financial situation....

I don't think he meant richer in the monetary sense... more in that their talent pool is much richer than any other SUNY currently, implying that it is unfair to leave the 99% (the rest of the conference) to pick up the scraps and well with whoever they can get.
Just looking at Cohen's high school indoor stats (all that I could find and assuming these are his his PRs) he ran a 9:47 at the State Qualifying meet and a 9:52 at Indoor Nationals EE for the two mile. PRs include 4:32 in the true mile and 4:34 for the 1600. At the Holiday Classic he just ran 4:22.60 which is a sub 4:40 1600 and doubling back and running 9:23.89 which is about 10:00 or just under for a 3200. He is not far off his senior year indoor PRs probably with little to no workouts under his belt for the indoor season. And at this time last year I dont think he was running as fast as he just did even with workouts as the high school season starts in early Novemeber. Sure they might not be fast times in general for now but for Cohen compared to where he was last year at this time, I say is right where he needs to be to build upon this and produce some fast times during indoor, something he did not really do during indoor of his high school career. He will be fine, expect great things from this kid!
i remember the good ol days when this thread actually had interesting material to read....zZzZzZzZ
I don't understand why Oneonta is considered to be one of the worst teams. They didn't have a great cross season but on paper they have a chance to compete for at least third at SUNYACS.
Yeah I know what you mean. Oneonta may not have had their best XC season, but they still have a somewhat decent pool of distance talent in the mid-distance events, and they're pretty talented in the field events, idk about sprints. But I see no reason why Oneonta shouldnt mix it up with the top guns

Looks like the Cortland downhill trend continues?
It's just a poll it doesn't mean anything about cortland.

False.
It's not based off voting, it's based off last year's results and results this year that occurred in January.
Are you saying that last year and the first couple of weeks of this year don't factor in to a team's 2012 success?
