I have his twitter open on my phone right in front of me, and to be fair one of his first tweets after the incident said "i know what he did was wrong and hes gettin punishedd!!!!!"
Not saying he didn't turn hostile later on (haven't gotten there yet), but it didn't necessarily start out that way.

This woman (and the kids) are all so pathetic. But why does she need all that money? Nobody forced her to be a "bus monitor," which she seems to be absolutely horrible at. These are kids, and kids are jerks. Grow up and deal with it.

Eh...the kids are shits, but as has been pointed out, many are at that age. And while it's sad that the lady was subjected to that treatment, I think you have to be ready to deal with that sort of crap if you're working with kids that age. Especially so in a situation like a bus where they're feeling a bit more bold than they might in a classroom or something where a bunch of other authority figures (who wouldn't be willing to take their shit) are around.
So for that reason I think giving her hundreds of thousands of dollars is pretty absurd considering all of the people in the world who have been dealt a much worse hand. Like much of Africa...how many in the poorer parts of the world could be fed and clothed for years with the money being given to this one woman who had a tough day?

That's the great thing about crowd-sourcing. Nobody is giving her thousands of dollars - a bunch of people are giving her $5 or $10.

Not sure what a good punishment for those kids would be. Maybe give them plastic surgery to make them horribly deformed for a year.
I was in junior high in 1985-87, and it's no stretch for me to imagine my classmates doing this. I saw things right in this ballpark. I felt nervous every day as I headed off to school. I don't think it's a generational thing, I just think it's a brain chemistry thing.

I think it's because anti-bullying is a big trend these days. People have a concrete way to show they are part of that trend.
