Do men think about why they like certain physicial characteristics? No. I like what I like. I don't think "wow, she could produce offspring likely to procreate." Why would women be any different. They just like tall.
Where is the cut? What height is considered okay?
Females finding taller men more attractive is mostly a Madison Ave and Hollywood creation; however, there is a natural/instinctual desire for a strong and healthy male. Since men on average are about an inch and half taller than women, it all should work out, but it doesn't becasue a women who is 5'2", wants a guy who is 6'2". My daughter is only 4'11", but will not date a guy under 5 feet, no matter how nice a guys he is...women can be cruel in that way. Btw, my daughter has dated a lot of jerks.
my college professor (gender studies) told us that man is a
monogamous species except in cultures where serial-monogamy
is accepted. Thus your argument doesn't apply. Perhaps
to banana flies or squirrels, but not people.
If he can reach something higher on the shelf than I can; I also prefer he can unscrew jars that I cannot; I also want him to have great aim when it comes to killing spiders. These are the important practicalities. BRM's got 2 out of 3.

Good list. I'll add the willingness to bury the birds or mice that the cat kills. Yuck. Very happy to be married.

There's a lot of 'em out there, Mr. TrackCoach.
The only measurement that matters is wallet thickness.
Now carry on wasting each other's time.
to answer the OP's question, i guess there are many shallow women.

You have to be a guy to be typing this. Just look around at all the broke-ass dudes with hot women. They got game, and part of that game is their (tall) height.
Looks are deceiving. Those women are scumbags/low class people, just like the "broke ass dudes" you talk about. Women that smarter men wouldn't touch with a ten foot stick.

And who do you suppose makes more money?

@Peace Out, being 5'11", do/did you find your dating pool to be limited? While there are plenty of guys out there who are 5'12"* and above, I still think it would be more difficult for a taller gal to find someone compatible who is also taller. Your thoughts?
*Yes, I know.
No, I've always found that there are a lot of really tall guys out there.

So, ladies, all other factors being equal, would you prefer a guy who is 5'7" with a fantastic head of hair, or 6'2" and bald (male pattern bald)?
I'd go with the bald guy, no contest. But preferably completely bald, instead of partially bald. There are a lot of good looking bald guys out there.

5'7" and hair, no question. Bald is a dealbreaker. Now if we were 70 and had been married for 40 years and he went bald, no, I wouldn't divorce him, lol. But I'm not attracted to bald and when I see a bald guy close to my age, there's just no sex appeal there. Although, most guys my age are balding rather than completely bald, and the patchy thin hair is the worst - it is better to shave it all at that point.

I'm 5'9 and am super attracted to 5'11 blondes. Have never dated one; too poor, short, and ugly.

That made me laugh-- and I'm short!

A gender studies professor suggested that men don't behave in a (biologically logical) way that benefits them, but rather, in a (biologically counter-intuitive) manner that benefits women? Fascinating.
