Bill Rodgers - the most liked and respected runner on the Lets Run message boards?

How was Rodgers a "draft dodger?" He applied for and was granted conscientious objector status and did alternate service in a hospital, which is completely legal and within the framework of the selective service. It's not like he fled to Canada or something.

I met both a few years ago at Falmouth; they were really friendly and encouraging. Because there isn't a finite supply of friendliness and encouragement in the universe, I don't feel the need to analyze them to see who "wins" the Friendliest Award.

I find this to be very interesting. Are you saying Frank is an elitist, that he had no or lttle concern with the masses? Bill needed/needs acceptance from everyone?
