Would he have been cleared of all charges had he shot at her to stop her? How is that different from tasering to stop her?

Tasering is supposed to be the alternative to shooting. The standards for shooting are much higher than tasering.
The outcome of this situation would have been very difficult to foresee. Of course he had other alternatives, but the outcomes of those situations would have been just as unknown. If he had tackled her, the probability of her head hitting the ground would have been about the same. We don't know. She was handcuffed so her balance would be off and she was probably going to hit the ground at some point in being stopped We do know that if she hadn't run away she wouldn't have been tasered.
Being handcuffed would increase the liklihood of head injury tremendously, since they can't get an arm up to break the fall. Something to consider for taser guidelines for sure. It would be much easier to tackle in a way as to minimize risk of fatality.

Does anyone know why she died? I doubt it was the taser. She could have simply had a brain bleed from smacking her head so hard.
Why we can't have basic weight and fitness standards for our cops is beyond me, but the fact is this girl was resisting arrest and was tazed. End of story. Cop did nothing technically wrong.
The real story for me is why can't we have cops that can run and apprehend a 100lb girl? This guy is a joke. If he was fit, this girl would be alive.

I don't give a F if she had drugs in her system or what she did to someone else. Cops don't get to kill people who are running away in hand cuffs. Period. You really want to live a police state where fat ex-military power hungry tards get to do whatever they want? like someone else said, if this person was close to you you'd be singing a different tune. For some reason that is beyond me you can still reconcile this with your statements.
What people here refuse to accept is that this officer did not do anything that a reasonable professional in the field would have thought could kill this girl. Read that again; it's important. Not one expert would say that death was a likely outcome from a taser shot in this circumstance. Bottom line is when you make a break for it out of a police station you and have been a multiple time hit and run offender with serious drugs in your system, you were already a threat to yourself and others. There is someone to blame for this girl's death, and the guilty party got the death penalty.
First, what kind of expert would one be if they couldn't predict what actually happened in real life? Second, lets not exaggerate the threat of a 100lb girl running away in handcuffs. If her [drugs] are so high and thats the real reason she died, than how much of a threat is she? Third, why not just chase and catch her? Fourth, many police would tase her, but many cops are completely unreasonable and that still doesn't make it right.
The reason people are angry here is because they see a consistent attitude by police officers to engage in an us v. them mentality which lends itself to police brutality and unnecessary deaths. This is just one more example in a long list of violent crimes committed by uncaring authoritarian police who think they're in a war, except this time its against the american people. Again, I seriously doubt if this girl was close to you you'd have the same attitude. If the cop was my brother, friend, whatever, I'd still think they acted wrongly even if i wanted them to get off without punishment.
Why do you have an opinion for the cops on this matter? You know some or something? Or is it some personal hate of intoxicated irresponsible girls? I have a beef with the cops for multiple negative experiences where i've witnessed them abuse and violate the rights of Americans. whats your excuse.
Oh yeah, and i almost forgot. Its not for a cop to decide who is or isn't guilty you idiot. thats for the courts of law to decide. Cops are NOT judge and jury and they DO NOT get to decide who is guilty and who should live or die.

How about the standard procedure when you see a person suffer a severe head wound. Is it to calmy stand over them and ask "Are you stupid?" How about when the person you tasered goes unconscience. Is it to just do absolutely nothing and say "You hit your head pretty hard"? Dude is a thug. Even after he saw thing go terribly wrong he just stood there like "yah,that's what's up."
The stupidity of the average American is astounding. This reminds of the time I served on a jury. A man was on trial with assault with intent to cause harm for showing up at the place of work of his ex-girlfriend with a gun. He fired a shot above her head inside the office, everything caught on camera. The defense mentioned the ex-girlfriend, a lawyer, had a previous charge of cocaine possesion. The guy got away scott free, as half the jury said she should not be doing drugs. So there you have it.

I had the pleasure of being hit by a vehicle while riding my bicycle to track practice. The vehicle was at fault and did not stop to see if I was ok. Luckly I had a helmet on and it saved me from a head injury. I was lucky enough to get a 1,000 dollar hospital bill and stitches in my leg and hand. After the skin on my fingers were stitched back together I was lucky enough to only have tendon damage and not lose my finger like discussed by the doctors. My hand is screwed up and the jerk was never caught. Like I said thats what she gets. Who knows who she hurt.

No encounter with the cop, she would still have a mind.
Encounter with a cop having some self restraint and measure of propotionality, and the girl would still have some identity.
This is some simple cause and effect stuff. Dont' try to blur the lines. The cop deserved to be tazered and made mindless. That way cops would think twice, three times before using force, and I say this as the brother of a cop.
