Cannot be reduced during the period of the reward i.e. one year. Therefore you can be reduced for any reason under the sun for the next academic year, subject to appeal of course.

Stay on the team for the next year and get a free year of college, even if all you get is a year your still in better shape then 99 % of the population.
Your situation is normal. Especially in the SEC.
Your scholarship is for one academic year only! There is no such thing as a 4 year full ride, your scholarship is for one year and it can or can not be renewed or reduced.
Look at it this way. If you received a full academic scholarship and you do not maintain the required GPA....your scholarship is gone. Why should athletics be any different?
If you continue to severely underperform and your coach is not a total a$$hole, he will find a mid-major DI that will probably offer you a large scholarship. Again this is common at SEC schools and happens at other BCS schools as well.
I would suggest that you give 100% effort in workouts & meets and do all that your coach asks of you, as well as perform in the classroom. If you are not giving the effort in workouts, in the meets and doing poorly in the class....your done.
Remember the school only has 12.6 scholarships for the entire men's team, so they are expecting a lot from guys with large scholarships. You only have a one year contract.
