Third at Boston and fourth at New York is pretty good. Hall just didn't have the sort of perfect day you need to have to win a major marathon. People that think there's something wrong are start with the assumption that he should have won both races and then working backwards. Nobody was going to beat Merga or Meb at Boston and New York. Hall lost to Merga and Daniel Rono (another 2:06 guy) at Boston. He lost to Meb, Cheruiyot and Gharib at New York. He could've maybe done a little better, but he has had a good year.
