NO MORE RABBITS IN ZURICH!!

It's been 33 years and the world has never seen another Filbert emerge yet. I doubt some rule changes are going to make the next Filbert appear any time soon.

I think that we're all missing the point here. What it comes down to is responsibility. Who is responsible for the following; 1) paying the athletes 2) ensure a good, competetive field 3) incentives for running fast.

Is it the responsibility of the meet director to put together a good field that results in a fast time? Or is it the responsibility of the Golden League format to ensure that the athletes are paid for performing well?

My take is that the race directors' number one priority is to provide a forum for athletes to be paid. So the move to prize money only is a good thing. No more rabbits.

It is the responsibility of formats like the Golden League to ensure a good field by offering incentives to show up at every race. I think that they accomplished this somewhat by adding that second tier for people who fell one short of winning all 6. They could add a third tier.

So with that being said the third leg of the stool is incentives to produce fast times. This has to be the responsibility of the athletes. If they run fast they will be rewarded through prize money, endorsements, access to prettier women. If the runners want to run fast they will bring their own rabbits, or their agents will bring them.

So in summation...as long as they move it along in a holistic way, it will suck at first (Bek winning in 13:17) and get better with age (Bek winning in 12:45)

The person who runs sub 13 finsihing 6th will still likely finish 6th against the same field in a race that is won in 13:12.

He will likely finish closer to the winner and the race will look more exciting but the rabbitted race would show how much better the winner is than the 6th place finisher.

As a fan I want to see a good race. As a runner I want to run as fast as I can.

We all love to see Cram against Aouita going after 3:29 or El G vs Ngeny going after 3:43.
