Two weeks to go: Rankings on Men's side.

1) Shippensburg- Tight pack, All American caliber #1 in Beegle, only two 8k's for the top runners suggests a strong post season focus. (35 pts)

2) Lock Haven- If Tim Getz was still running with Hilton/Monroe they would be my pic FTW, but we haven't seen that since Dickinson. If they can keep the 4-5 ahead of the Ship 6, they could pull off the win. (41 pts)

3) Edinboro- I think Hahn is set to give Hilton everything he can handle in two weeks. After that it gets dicey, Scott Anderson needs to be a top 5 runner in the conference if the Boro wants to contend. (49 pts)

4) Millersville- This team has run well this season, would be nice to see Boyer come around and finish the season on a high.

5) California (Pa.)- Led by young stud Aaron Dinzeo and followed up with a youthful core. However, the gap between 3 and 4-5 in these rankings is huge.

6) Mansfield- Led by Bud Plaszenski, I expect this team to be at its peak over the next 4 weeks and represent themselves well.

7) Slippery Rock- Too much talent to be this far down the list. With Ulrich and some of the young talent, this should have been a team ready to run top 5.

8) Bloom- Robert Furman leads a young team, I think they will group well and get the 8 spot.

9) IUP- Which IUP team shows up? the team that got blasted at Penn state or the team that packed well and ran fast at Lock Haven? Clint Keller may challenge for all PSAC honors.

10) East Stroud- Amr Aldeen has consistently been the top guy. Which makes you wonder, where are Fezza and Laria? This team needs to get its momentum rolling into the track season.

11) Kutztown- There isn't much to say, young and no one under 27 on your home course, that will make it tough to compete in the PSAC.

12) West Chester- Its a long climb up from here.

13) Mercyhurst- Please.

14) Gannon- Stay.

15- Cheyney- Home.

the All PSAC team:

1) Nick Hilton- The class of the PSAC for the last 12 months, but repeating is never an easy thing.

2) Ben Hahn- Hilton won't get away until late, Hahn has excellent XC credentials and appears fit.

3) Bryan Beegle- No one has been wondering why he isn't in results this year. Anyone in the top 3 could win and I wouldn't be surprised.

4) Greg Monroe- Freshman of the year, it really shouldn't matter what he does, he has already earned that honor.

5) Matt Gillette- Current athlete of the week for PSAC XC builds on a solid freshman campaign.

6) Sean Stetler- Reigning indoor 3k and outdoor 10k champion, will show up on race day.

7) Scott Anderson- One of the most talented runners to enter the conference, that will carry him to this spot. Looked off his Game at Wooster, could be a top 5 guy.

8) Garth Watson- Party on Wayne and party on Garth. Looked good at Wooster, and will finish the season strong.

9) Mitch Miller- Runs a great race and allows Lock Haven and keeps Haven in position to steal another PSAC title.

10) Steve Schelander- SU's number 4 man puts them in the lead.

11) Josh Neyhart- A senior trying to lead Shippensburg to its first team title in XC, gets it done.

12) Tim Getz- He could change the game if he can get it done in crunch time. And Lock Haven has a habit of getting people to step up at this meet.

13) Bud Plaszenski- These rankings have looked like a tri-meet so far, the best runner in the conference not on a nationally ranked team.

14) Sean Naderer- solid season, but hasn't shown the potential for that breakout race.

15) AJ Johnson- hasn't looked like a 14:30s guy so far this year. But he hasn't needed to yet, top 10 potential.

16) Brandon Boyer- a sub 25 guy and I have him ranked 16th? I think that speak to my respect for the athletes above and their coaches as well as the depth of the conference.

17) Aaron Dinzeo- Finished just behind Boyer this weekend, lets assume that happens again. 1 of 2 all conference freshmen.

18) Jake Krolick- 25:02 Pr and and a solid season, the 4-5 spots coming through are the key to Edinboro pulling off the upset.

19) James McBride- Leader of the Millersville group, having a very solid return campaign. Welcome back.

20) Robert Furman- Well deserving of all PSAC honors, finally adding some color to the parade of white and red jerseys above.

You know Ship was doing a workout this weekend right? I can guarantee they will have 7-8 in the top 20, and probably close to all being in the top 15. And who are James Mcbride and Bobby Furman?

how would anyone know what ship was doing from looking at results? at least now i know who you run for.

and mcbride was in the top 10 at the meet where you "ran a workout". furman has run 25:31 this season

*Addendum to men's rankings to start: I missed badly on ESU, they should be about 6th. Still, there should be more coming from that team if Fezza was running well.

Women:

1) Ship- two potential top 10 nationally with Spence/Dell and depth to spare, its going to be a runaway.

2) East Stroud- Really going out on a limb here, but looking at the times they put up on the flat and fast Salisbury course, they can compete for this spot.

3) Edinboro- If they get 5 good races they could be one of two teams in the conference to score less than 100 points.

4) Kutztown- This team is experienced and should be very hungry, that is a good combination for my money.

5) IUP- I like how they ran at Lock Haven, packed together well. In the women's race, the 5 runner is the MVP. I tend to pick packs over frontrunners, and this is one of those cases.

6) Ville- I am punishing Millersville for having such a large gap behind Anderson. If they run like they did at Paul Short they can put a scare into anyone (except Ship).

7) Mansfield- I am biased towards Mansfield (because I like the underdog story) so I want to pick them higher, but I don't see them shocking anyone here.

8) Lock Haven- 1,2... hey where is everyone else? Lambert and Sick are both all PSAC selections, but there isn't enough support to push them into the top 5.

9) Bloom- Almost the same story here, Katie Filmyer and Katie Meck and Katie McShay give them 3 solid runners. Then the gap comes, and that gap kills them.

10) Slippery Rock- Caveat, I am assuming Harpp will not run, if she runs this ranking changes big time. However, they don't have much depth and would need a Harpp and Burnick 1-2 punch to make any noise.

11) West Chester- A couple solid runners here and then they look like an average SOL team (district one alumni please arise).

12) Cal- Just keep plugging away. Attitude and effort will help you climb the ladder to success.

13) Clarion- Lets get some runners into the top 50 and set the goals for next year.

14) Gannon- How is it possible that a team can be in the PSAC but in a different region?

15) Mercyhurst- one runner with top 20 aspirations and not much else

16) Cheyney- at the very least this school should recruit 1 distance runner, just one.

Indv:

1) Neely Spence- running like someone favored to win the national title

2) Mary Dell- I know 1-2 is unlikely, but if you have someone you are 100% certain will beat Dell I'd like to know who it is.

*Harpp would be my pick for the 2 spot if healthy and running

3) Lindsay Lambert- 10k stud who will go out strong in her senior season

4) Crystal Burnick- an individual spot to nationals is in her future.

5) Elicia Anderson- Maybe a bit under ranked here, but I think that whole Ville squad has slid back a notch since Paul Short.

6) Tina Yi- her ranking gets punished for a sub standard race at Wooster, no reason she should be running over 18 on almost any course.

7) Rosie Mascoli- She has been putting up some fast times on flat courses, if she is strong enough for the hills at Cal she will surprise.

8) Abby Huber- 1500m All American doesn't seem to have the strength to be a top tier XC runner.

9) Katie Sick- Does this make her the freshman of the year? I think so and that means Lock Haven sweeps those honors.

10)Kristina Reimer- number one runner for a Kutztown team that I believe will run its race of the year at PSAC.

11) Kristina Koutsoro- Been having a really solid season for WCU, plus I think its the best last name in the conference.

12) Sarah Strayer- it looks like summer has improved her from a runner with a shot at all conference to a potential top 10 girl.

13) Emily Dubs- 800m provisional qualifier in track with the strength to get through 6k. thats a nice combination

14) Daniell Cerroni- Every year a few kids from Edinboro run the "race of their life" at PSAC, Cerroni could do that this year.

15) Katie Filmyer- the first of Bloomsburg's trio of Katies will go home with an all PSAC award.

16- Corinne Fitzgerald- a low 22 PR is nice, I think she can back it up here.

17- Katie Spratford- Looked really good at Louisville and solid at Kutztown, adds depth to a ship lineup that had none last year.

18- Becca Brandt- I don't think she has been one of the best 20 so far this year, but she will be in 2 weeks.

19- Jessica Scordino- We can't shut Mansfield out of the All PSAC awards, I just don't think that will happen.

20- Alyssa Taddie- IUP swings its only award of the post season with a solid run from Taddie.

I'm sorry Vin Banana, but your knowledge of the PSAC is quite terrible. You must be from Edinboro given your high placement of Garth Watson and Sean Naderer, guys that really haven't shown up in the PSAC in quite a while. You completely left out Nate Zondlo who was all conference in the 5k outdoors and has proven to be quite the post-season runner and putting AJ Johnson down that far is quite ridiculous. Bud P should be much higher up as well. I'm going to say that Ship and Haven will put 7 guys in before Edinboro's 4th.

The rankings are intended to generate discussion. And people have been left out, i.e. Zondlo at LHU and Sitler at SU. However that was by choice, not because I did not know the runners accomplishments. I am trying to get people talking or presenting their own rankings.

AJ Johnson was 23rd at regionals last year, so he is not too terribly under ranked. He could be great (top 6) or completely fail, both have happened before. You are absolutely right about Zondlo, I missed him, but it does happen from time to time.

Regarding Bud, I was very high on him when he opened with a sub 25 at Salisbury, but he has not shown that form since, finishing behind Haven's 4 this weekend when they appeared to be running some sort of controlled effort. So his ranking fell.

I am not from Edinboro but have tremendous respect for a program that has been to DII nationals an NCAA record 31 straight times. Does everyone forget this team had 5 all PSAC runners last year, was 2nd at PSAC and regionals, returning 6 of the 7 competition athletes. the race at Cal and in NC will not be Ship vs. Haven. You can pick different names if you want, but Edinboro will compete and compete well.

Did a good job coming up with rankings for men and women. It's nice knowing there's someone out there that pays attention to the whole PSAC and can come up with a quick analysis of everyone.

It's definitely nice knowing we have that extra week between Conference Champs and Regional Champs this year, could up the quality of the race at Regionals.

How about Ship and Haven men ranked so high nationally. Rankings are just numbers, but when was the last time that happened?

Also 5 PSAC womens teams ranked, but only two of them are going to the big dance.

I respect your opinions and this thread needs more posts like yours. For the teams I will go with the top three then top 20 individuals at Regionals (since you did PSAC).

1)Shippensburg- Top 7 guys are all-regional caliber, their consistency and pack makes them the best choice.

2)Edinboro- Their results haven't shown the true depth that they have. Will race well at PSAC's and Regionals.

3)Lock Haven-Great top 2, their 3 through 7 have the credentials but are lacking the depth. Regionals is going to be their seventh? race of the season, seems like way too much racing.

Top 20 at Regionals

1) Hilton- Must I explain

2) Beegle- Following closely behind Hilton, Beegle will definitely not allow Hilton to run away from him.

3) Gillete- Matt Gillete has been looking really good this season in all the results I have seen, I truly believe he is a top 3 runner.

4) Hahn- Great runner, fast pr's- Not racing amazing this year but he will be up there when it matters.

5) Stephen Schelander- Always seems to finish close to Gillete, was 8th 9th in the region last year?

6)Sean Stetler- PSAC 10k champ

7)Scott Anderson- Running well this year, with his HS track pr's he should be doing more.

8)Tim Getz- Never seems to quit. May not be having the best season but he always seems to race well.

9)Nathan Zondlo- 14:30's track pr, he races well when it matters.

10)Josh Neyhart- Great track pr's has been posting great results this year, he will either 10th or closer to 20th depending on how well he can hold up over 10k.

11)Greg Monroe- This would be a great race for Greg, he has been having a stellar season but how will he hold up with the big dogs.

12) Brandon Boyer- Sub 25 8k guy, has been having a great year so far.

13) Jake Sitler- Close to sub 25 pr? Ran fast steeple in the spring

14)Garth Watson- Looking better as the season goes on.

15) AJ Johnson- Hasn't been having the best season, but his experience and pr's will give him the edge to top out the last all region spot.

16)Bud Plaszenski- Has been posting some pretty decent results. Salsbury is a super fast course, he will have trouble breaking up the Ship, LH, Edinboro packs.

17)Scott Naderer- Will need a breakout race to finish higher.

18)Aaron Dinzeo- Should be a great finish for the freshman.

19) Jake Krolick- Ran well at Louisville, could finish higher with a great race.

20)Mitch Miller- Hasn't raced well this year, but due to his previous credentials I will give him the nudge for the 20th spot.

former Georgetown University center- Greg Monroe. my mind just typed in what was familiar, my apologies to Alex Monroe. but still I better learn his name since I might be picking him to win next year.

Laraia has been ESU's consistent top runner this year, posting the fastest times on the team this season. Aldeen was the top guy only the past couple weeks...

Some very good rankings so far, although, I wouldn't quite say that on the men's side that Ship is the outright favorite. Haven is looking very solid. They have a great 1-2 punch with Hilton and Monroe, their 1-2 is just as good, if not better than Ship's. Then you have the potential of AJ and Getz being right with Monroe if they're on their game, they both have run very well in the past and have proven themselves by past performance to be top-5 threats. If you throw Zondlo in there who has run very well before, especially last year at outdoor PSAC's when he pushed Beegle to his limits in the 5k, then I don't think anyone will beat them if they're all on top of their game on the same day. Basically, if Haven and Ship both have perfect days, I think Haven will come out on top.

Regionals - Happy Halloween

1) Boro – Due for one of those years where they run fairly well all season then come to psacs and take 2nd or 3rd. Then at regionals just run great and everyone is just like, where the heck did that come from?

2) Ship – Ship Happens. Will run well at regionals then lead the conference at nationals.

3) Haven – Fear the beard

4) Slippery Rock – No reason just like that they wear puma

5) IUP – Go Hillary!

6) ESU – Runners 3-5 will fall start out of the blocks

7) Cal - Danny Caulfield for President

8) Millersville – Heard Jennings shaved her head and is running 5 for them.

9) Kutztown – No one has enough talent to fit this spot

10) Wheeling Jesuit – Why not? Oh I know because a team from outside the psac has not finished this high at regionals since cheyney won conference.

PSAC Prediction

1)Shippensburg - Is theirs to lose, race at Louisville have set the standard so far with an average of 24:45, most of their races have show that tight pack, with spreads under 20 seconds

2)Lock Haven-If Hilton and Monroe have great races then look out, also had a average of 25, but also needs to close the spreads

3)Edinboro-Had a average of 25:04 at Louisville, need to close their 50 second spreads to top Ship and Lock

4)East Stroudsburg-Aldeen and Laraia been running good, they go as far as their 4,5 take them, ran a average of 25:53 at Don Cathcart

5)Slippery Rock- Have a tight pack in the mid 26s, should benefit them well at PSACs, I can see East Stroudsburg and Slippery Rock flipping in positions

6)Millersville-I know they brought back some people,have had some decent races, they usually show up at regionals

7)IUP-Until the race at Lock Haven, I would have them hovering around 10th, but they ran a average of 26:11 with a spread of 37 seconds, its a pancake flat course, but they are a team to lookout for

8)Cal-Very young talented team, led by two freshmen, pulling off some good races average around 27 minutes

9)Bloomsburg-Have a huge gap between Furman and the rest, 2 minute spread at the Lock Haven, still had their best race though

10)Mansfield-Edged out by Bloomsburg at Lock Haven recently, but having a huge spread will hurt

11)Kutztown-Don't have that bad of spread, but their pack will be too far back too make any damage

12)West Chester-hmmm...

13)Mercyhurst-barely notice them, any reason to?

14)Ganon-Yeah, are they still in the conference?

Individuals to look out for,(no order)

Shippensburg - except at least 6-7 of them in or near the top 20, Bryan Beegle, Matt Gillette, Stephen Schelander, Josh Neyhart, and Sean Stetler especially

Lock Haven - Nick Hilton will be gunning for the lead, Alex Monroe should be a top 10, others to watch Tim Getz and Nathan Zondlo

Edinboro - Ben Hahn will be in that lead pack, Scott Anderson, Sean Naderer, and Jacob Krolick will be up there

East Stroudsburg - Amr Aldeen and Greg Laraia will try to postion high

Slippery Rock - Brian Ulrich, Jason Leonard both have had some good races, a great race could boost Slippery Rock into 4th, Brian Ulrich has been up and down, I think he pulls out a good one here

Millersville - James Mcbride has had a great year, could make some noise, Josh Foulds with a good race could be someone to watch, surprised to not see Jim Boyer up there farther, but he could come around

IUP - Clint Keller, is the one individual who stands out, the rest are pretty jumbled, but another one of the pack could emerge

Cal - Aaron Dinzeo,pretty much has propelled this team, has raced well in big races too

Bloomsburg - Bobby Furman, will need a good race, but should also be option when thinking top 25

Mansfield - Bud Plazsenski should be in the pack of ship, lock, edinboro runners

Kutztown-Their best runner is Ryan Reich and I dont see him breaking the top 30

West Chester - Um, no one

Ganon, Mercyhurst, and Cheyney - Also no one, correct me if I'm wrong

From the PSAC meet information sheet:

"Showers: Men can shower in the Football Visitor’s locker room which is located under the Adamson Stadium (start of the 100m) stands following the meet. Women can shower in the Softball Locker room which is located in the same area."
