Goucher and Slattery results?

Heard from a reliable source that Goucher's form looks amazing now. He has really come a long way in 4 months out in Oregon. Give the guy a break - it's not like he's 50 years old and his career is over.

You guys are crazy to think that you can run faster indoors than outdoors!!! I've never heard so much junk!!!

not so impressive times from the youngsters of mcgrath and chock. chock especially, 2:25?

Anybody hear who's lined up to run the next meet at Dempsey? We usually see a stacked 3k at some point.

Hey, how was the air in there? This sounds dumb, but at the longer distances (particularly on bigger indoor tracks) it isn't the curves that ever slowed me down it was the horridly dry air. (The dust and dryness especially were bad at Cornell every time I was there - that's in part just a function of the age of the building but boy could they use a humidifier in some indoor faclities I've raced in.)

Humidity generally is not much problem- this is seattle after all. To me it can get a little too warm for distances above 3k, but probably not so much for most people.

"UW indoor facility is 307m long, has great surface (mondo), isn't banked and there is a perfect climate for running.

I had ran on that track several times, PR'ed at every single attempt and never came close to those PRs after that (indoors). 13:43 on that track is in my book about 14min flat otdoors. Still a great run from Gouch. Way to go!"

Most years, weather conditions at Stanford and Mt. SAC, where many guys go run fast times in the spring, are perfect. Chilly temperatures and no wind, pretty much the same as running in an indoor arena, except that you are running fewer laps. A 13:43 at that meet is easily worth a sub 13:40 at Mt. SAC or Stanford with a strong field and good weather.

That's a good cover story (about Chock doubling as a workout). But if she were in the kind of shape she was when she set those records last year,

she would run an 800 a lot faster then 2:25, even in a workout.

You keep saying thee 800 she also ran a 5 flat mile. hmmm 225 pace is about a???? 5 flat mile. You will figure this all out at the end of the season.

much harder to get a rythym going indoors. probably worth a 13:35 outdoors in good conditions, but supposedly they ran 4:18 last mile, so they obviously were not taking it all out from the gun

What do you think, he should have run an indoor 10 km.? Goucher is awesome, hope he shows this year that he's back to form.

Prozac, Lexapro, Celexa, Zoloft, Wellbutrin etc. etc. etc.-- if the meds help, take em. Combine it with therapy and you're slowly on your way to health. It takes a LONG time to get to a good baseline once you've been diagnosed and start treatment. Shoot, it takes at least a month for anti-depressants to begin working. And that's assuming that the first one (or cocktail of them) that you take works. And it's different for everyone. It was amazing watching Goucher in the film. Part of the reason I wanted see it was to watch an elite athlete with depression working his way through that. And seeing what appeared to be a hint of reluctance to accept what it means to live with depression, especially when you've lived with it undiagnosed for years, was really interesting- I totally recognized myself there. You can't necessarily expect to be back in the game just a year after diagnosis. It sucks, but that's often the case.
