2012 GLIAC XC

I am not sure if I should be excited or disappointed Malone is in the conference. On one hand, they have been bringing in great recruits for nearly 10 years and improving them a bit, bringing more competition to the races they are in. On the other hand, they have always shown an inferiority complex and have to spout out on the message boards.

Be prepared for a highly talented team that races cross country tough but also likes to talk about it. Yes, some outsiders will attempt to make Malone look bad as well by posing as a member of the team.

GVSU is the weakest they have been in nearly 10 years. Malone is not as good as they have been over that same period but this squad is still one of their better teams. If Meeson and Tony Migliozzi can hit on the same day, they will be no worse than 2nd in the GLIAC.

Migliozzi isn't running XC. Graduated or doesn't have eligibility left.

Meson has been irrelevant for years.

These idiots who don't run for Malone but talk them up to make them look bad, should grow up. No runners from Malone post on here, it's very disrespectful and childish. GVSU had a nice opener at Calvin, I assume that it's their B team? Colin Fisher had a nice 24:59 and I'm guessing the course is fast? Flat?

Can you explain why after every time trial or race, someone knows the results, where they broke off, what they did in previous years? Come on now. It's ok to admit it. GVSU didn't run all their guys.

Having ran at Calvin a couple of years ago, it is very fast. Legit, but fast.

GVSU must have held out at least their top 10. I guess you could call it their B squad but it was more than just top 7. Still, their top 2 were RS Fr. and put in decent performances. Fisher ran well but it will take more than that to win GLIACs.

Next week at MSU will give a good indicator of where several GLIAC teams are at.

My guess would be because the time trial as at Walsh and Walsh guys were in the trial.. a runner from that school posted it.

I think everyone on this thread needs to step back and watch what they're saying. GVSU is a tough team no matter what and all the Malone D-riders need to have a little respect for not only GVSU, but all the other GLIAC teams. Talking trash and saying you're going to beat everyone else isn't going to make you faster. Step away from the computer and go train. Don't try and act like Malone guys aren't posting. The stuff being said here isn't all common knowledge. What happens now is pretty much irrelevant. we'll see who shows up at Northwood for the conference meet and that will decide who wins and who places where, not trash talk and meaningless time trials.

Does anyone know which GLIAC teams are racing at Spartan this week? I think last year it was Wayne, GV, Ferris.

The Lakers may be every bit as good as last year's team. They easily beat EMU and CMU today, and hung in there with Michigan State and Ohio State. Would Malone be within 20 points of OSU? Like someone else said we'll see what happens at Northwood in October....somehow I don't see GVSU as being terribly vulnerable.

Why yes, I believe they would be. Their No. 1 guy would have been top 5 in this race and No. 2 was five seconds behind him in their opener. Third was 11 seconds behind second and fourth and fifth were within 30 seconds. They run at the Navy Academy tomorrow. They'll do fine.

Alright another weekend has gone by. Lets hear some predictions.

GV, Malone, Ferris at Gliacs... GV no where near the front runners but a lot of depth... can only run 7 though, Malone looked strong and Ferris had 9 guys under 26:30 and 3 under 26 at Spartan.

You have to be kidding. It isn't even close.

Why do you say that? Malone ran just fine for the first 8k of the year. Fresenko was very sick and is usually the teams No. 4. Roush is a very talented frosh who is just learning how to race, he'll drop time. Williams was only five seconds behind Trusty in the first meet of the year. Trusty ran 25:04. They ran for 76 points behind American and Navy. Not bad at all.

GV had 11 under 26 at their meet 5 under 25:30. Ashland ran as a pack it seems like but finished well. Trusty might have ran that fast but their 2nd guy was 45 seconds behind. GV will put 5 in front of their two. IF fresenko was VERY sick why did the coaching staff let him race. team AVG was 25:49 or what not.

Williams is capable of much faster, he's a 9:00's steepler what happened?

They need people to step up. Some results on their team this weekend is unpromising. What has Hazen been doing down in Canton? Last year they were bad this year they are terrible.

Never said GV wouldn't win. Just saying they are more vulnerable without Witt and Emmorey front running. Those 2 were really consistent. As for Malone, I don't know the course but based off of times they look about as good as Ferris. GV is wayyyy ahead of Malone though.

My point was that Witt and Emmorey were locks to be 1 and 2 the last couple of years. Theres no lock for number 1 and definitely number 2 this time. I mean there was a Ferris and Hillsdale kid right up there at Spartan, not to mention Fisher. Other than that there was just depth, not front running. A school is more dominant with an automatic 1 and 2. That's not there this year. I still said GV would win.
