Yes it is sad what is happening. There are many people in the Indy area who truly care about the running scene- whether its club leaders, stores, coaches, etc. Then something like this organization moves in. Sure maybe they are trying to do a good job- but to make money. There is nothing wrong with that, but what is wrong is that its obvious they care very little about the running community. Thus, they anger the local running community. Now participation in an event like this is 5% running community, and the other 95% are people simply running to do it, etc. They really have no idea that they should expect better, and are going to take what the organizers and media say- which brings us back to the point that the organizers/media just don't get the actual running side of it. And then the local running community is more frustrated, and the local running community wants to do something, but do they have the means to compete with such money? I don't think so.
So, as the local running community, I'm the one who feels like I'm being kicked in the face.
I don't care if the race goes on or not. If it does, I wish it would be awesome. The next Chicago. How sweet that would be for Indy. But I've been around the block and know you can't do that the way these people are doing it. So for the next few years I'll have to sit back and watch lots of people who don't know better go along for the ride, while the running community is hurt by something like this.
On a side note, I guess I should mention I don't like the fact that foot solutions hikes prices, and it sometimes gets to me that people still buy stuff from there just because they don't know better. If people could by the same shoe from the running co. for $30 less and the actual suggested price, I think they would. And nordic walking 5k? Thats actually a good idea seeing as they sell those, too. Good tie in, that's sincere.
Im sad and comfused now. Somebody help me?
