China is a very nationalistic place, that places a high emphasis on winning and success and less on means to achieve it. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if Mayeroff is correct, or if China had an institutionalized doping system. This is the country that brought you the Cultural Revolution...This isn't to say other countries haven't done their part to enable doping or cover it up.

The human genome project confirms many of the past theories of human geographers and anthropologists that the entire human race is related to each other. Skin color based race myths are just that, myths. Migration has spread one single species of homo sapiens to all parts of the globe. All of the peoples of Far West Asia are directly related to those in Far East Asia, Middle Asia, Africa, South America, Alaska, you name it. Isn't that wonderful, we all all one happy track and field team.
KJ is probably right in some respects. The Chinese might be doing this in order to appear tough. Kind of like the Rosas letting Chepchumba bite the bullet in order to make it look like they won't tolerate cheats when it's obvious to all but the most PC brainwashed that many of the top Kenyans (and Ethiopians - Hermens and Kostre, yeesh) are doped to their eyeballs. Given today's political climate, the athletes that truly have to worry about drug testing (in endurance events) are Europeans (men especially), Americans, Arabs and the Japanese.
I think there's alot of paranoia here. The U.S. by far is the dirtiest country in the world when it comes to steroids, drugs, and doping in sports. It's part of the American Heritage to spread drug use to every person at any cost. The CIA smuggled crack into Los Angeles and poisoned it's own citizens in the 1980's. Many New Englanders funded the opium trade in China in the 1800's, one of the first uses of chemical warfare upon an innocent civilian population.

Conte got off with less of a penalty than Martha Stewart had to pay. The entire U.S. is a society of dopers. Especially USATF, WWF, MLB, Cycling, and the NFL. Senator McCain is a renegade and may likely get assasinated for going against the sports mafia which not only includes not only the above mentioned criminal organizations, but also ESPN, FOX, Time Warner, NCAA, Nike, Adidas and others who are actively poisoning our children with steroids and other performance enhancing sunstances. The U.S. is the dirtiest country in the world by far. Most of the substances are made in right here in the U.S.A. More of our kids will die this year in a 'roid depression. The U.S. is the capitol of dopers.
