Doc, I thought Cam did 3:59. Why is he just in front of us here?

Day2/365:
An easy 35mins at Highland fields today, shirtless, in warm sunshine, still slightly hungover, but an enjoyable run. I must slowly, steadily, gradually fill the tank again, and get rid of my hamstring issues.
I have to say that when I look back to a hard ugly 5:44 Mile on March 1st, and a tough 2:39 800m around that time, that I've come a long way. I didn't quite get to where I wanted to be, but, I have to pat myself on the back when I think back to where I was in the winter.

Happy birthday to your son mopak.
Swam for 45 mins last night using the pull buoy and not pushing off the walls as instructed. It's way better than the arm bike so I'm going to stick with this.
driske, mopak was talking about Neighbours the aussie soap which has been running for over 20 yrs, not sure we're going to rival that though!
30 minutes out and back: 15 minute warmup (out) then 3x1-minute/3x2-minute pickups with 1-minute rest (back).
A little stiff after yesterday's long run. At 54 it's clear how much I've slowed. :(
However, they will have to DRAG my body off the road or trail or from a finish line in the End. I refuse to check out in a nursing home.

Day3/365:
An easy 40mins about hot sunny Qualicum Beach trails and roads today. I thought about doing a 5km tempo on a marked out race course (I love that course, the race only happened once), but, meh....I'm in therapeutic tank filling mode.

Yesterday was a 2hr mtn bike ride, pretty solid work. 2 tough climbs -Pannels Hill on the Mc Ivor Range and also up to the summit of Mt Ida. A very hard slog in some sections, a mix of rock and soft mud. Only covered 32kms despite averaging 30kph the last 4k.
Today was a club 8k on flat but muddy trails. 31.58, a bit disappointing as I was running very well to 7kms. Just after 7km I had some spasms in the right butt and lost about 15 secs as I really laboured to stretch my right leg through it's stride the last km. Couldn't jog a warmdown post race but it has loosened with lots of walking and massage.
Hopefully it will be right tomorrow. I've had this problem a few times and it usually comes good in a day or two. I think it is probably nerve irritation in the lower back. Yesterday's bike ride may have been the culprit. Pretty rough bouncy affair it was.
Having spent many years working in health care Gonzo, I am with you on that. Hope I drop somewhere in the forest, hopefully not just yet, I've still got a few more trails to run!
Good to hear the swimming went well TC.
45 minute run up and down hills.
Day 4/365:
And then, on the 4th day, my 5th St hangover did pass, and I did a 60min run, with some tempo, and it felt great.
2 x Marsden Rd 4 mile loop in 56:49, + 3:11 jog. The first loop was a gentle 31:04. Then, I decided to switch gears, and the second loop was 25:45. It was a moderate tempo, not hard, and I'm excited by the prospect of a 5k at our track on Aug 15th, another 5k in Ottawa on Sep 20th, and Miracle Biatch 10k on Oct 18th. I want to race something good this year, LOL. I'm very pleased with this run today.

36:50 first day back after years,
felt heavy and slow, but i guess its normal.
A.M.- 8 miles on hills at about 7 min average, lifted weights after
P.M.- 5 miles easy pace (7:28-7:23-7:01-7:05-6:54)
Off to a bad start yesterday. My wife and I were heading to work at 6am when bro-in-law rings to say my father-in-law died in the early hours.
I did manage to get a run in when all the family members were in a meeting with the funeral director. 95mins on the flat, straight, sandy roads of southern NSW. It was a good opportunity to unwind from a stressful day.
Today I came home with my daughter, my wife stayed behind to help with the arrangements. Home at 4pm and went out for a nice 90min run through the hills, finishing in the dark.
my condolences mopak
i am back.
i didnt even peek.
just mountains, trails, kids, outdoor living.
Running Highlight: went for a 135km drive to do the last leg of the Traslaval stage race from Vigo di Fassa to Ciampedie: 14.5km with some incentivating up-and-downing. Met up with some friends who had done the previous 4 stages and were truly geared to bring it home.
Lots of biking, a lot of walking uphill as the "Maso" (mountain cottage) we were staying in (my kids and wife still are) is at the end of a very steep hill and my old banger just cant make it up. Just as well because the path is peppered with wild strawberries and raspberries which are fun to pick on the way up.
And yes, i am in total MOARG mode.
driske, believe we are Gimmelwald 2001 -607 days correct?
nice to be back.
TC: mods willing and permitting, we should be able to go to Gimmelwald 2011, yes? Would be a nice way to close this thread, assuming that is what needs to be done...
Gonzo - good luck for everything
mopak - sorry to hear your news
the flat sandy roads sound amazing
tpcb - i don't understand your question
happy running to you all :)
Losers.
Working on my speed, or lack of it, with short races all summer (still running long on off w/ends to keep mileage up) with LT goal to BQ at the end of this yr. Ran 6 easy (7:55 pace) this morning during taper week for 4 miler Saturday. Goal 26:00.
I went out for a "little run in the rain" today. I did some light stretching and drills to warm up and get the "competitive juices" flowing. After a few more minutes getting myself psyched up, I took off on my run for the day. I averaged a brisk 2:37-2:38 per mile before slowing it down. NOW THATS MY KINDA TEMPO RUN Mahn!
I know every body runs different distances and paces and training sessions and times (like 60 minute runs etc.), but I was running comfortably for 200 then slowed to the standard 400 cooldown. all in all not a bad day.
Good luck everyone. I'll be waiting for you at the finishline :)
A.M.- 1.5 mile warm up, 12 x 270m hill with 270m jog recovery, 1.5 mile cooldown
started at 62 sec., fastest one was 47 sec.
8 min abs after
P.M.- 5 miles easy pace (7:32-7:16-6:53-7:07-6:46)
Well, that was a mind blowing presentation at CVRRTNW tonight folks, and I truly am floored, and blessed. CVRR has been so kind to me, and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
Then I did an easy 40mins, from the track to home, taking a slightly scenic route. I felt really good....the tank is filling again.
