today: bike commute, 45 minute barefoot walk
today: bike commute, 45 minute barefoot walk
A brisk day for a brisk 45 minute jaunt. No time for more as I've got lots on my plate right now. Certainly no time for any "world class" workouts. Ha, ha! Would love to stick around, but duty calls!
Keep up the good work, all!

This means we'll hear from one of your aliases very soon.
20 miles in 2:18. Getting ready to break 3hours in the full in May. Didn't rest up for this one, will rest a bit more for the next 20 miler to see what should be my marathon goal pace.
:)
Nice hot day today too!
dusted off another old trail route yesterday....okay, road-trail-road actually.....but it was nice to get back to some old haunts....45' with some good hills in there.....unfortunately I did encounter some of my charges who were doing something less than what was expected....lecture time again today?....at least they know I'm out there....thoughts of Monty Python and the Spanish Inquisition come to mind....
yesterday was 3.5mi pushing an 18 month old in the country hills and the wind was brutal!
any relation to Scott Daggett?

You mean the question that you asked yourself, ha!? ;) Do you hide your own easter eggs too? \
If this means no more postings of world class workouts then go ahead and keep up the ronny daggett lie cus I dont mind any.
Well it's TGIF big time this week. This has been the week from hell. Not much running to report. I did sneak in a 30 minute sprint (ha, ha) yesterday. It seemed like a sprint, anyway, since I had to hurry through it. Duty called! Hopefully the weekend will be more relaxed and I can get some reasonable running done. Here's hoping!
Keep up the good work, all!
yesterday: bike commute, long walk
today: bike commute
tmw: kids athletics, Major easter egg treasure hunt
sunday: 10K fun race
I've been absent this week, but there hasn't been a ton to report. Mileage was cut back in order to prep for a race. Flew to the west coast to visit the family... Left at 8PM last night, spent 16 hours on planes and in airports, and then drove directly to track meet. Ran the 5k, with a very fast field. Ended up a little off the back end, being smart, and a large group started to move back as I picked them off. Ended up mid pack, with a nice new PR of 15:20.41. I wanted to get into the 15:teens, but what can you do? I'm hoping that maybe with some specific workouts and a bit of training, I can take a crack at sub 15! Hope all is well everybody!
I was able to get in a 45 minute saunter this morning before I head off to take care of some business. It was a tad brisk -- the weather, that is, not my pace (ha, ha) -- but the spring air felt good on bare legs. Tomorrow should be a less hectic day and hopefully will provide an opportunity for something a bit more substantial. We'll see!
Keep up the good work, all!
Kids athletics was great: 100 eggs, numbered from 1 to 100, hidden in 3000sq.m. of park cordoned off. Kids loved sprinting to find, and sprinting back to put their captured specimen on a numbered board, corresponding with the eggs' number.
They were exhausted at the end. The eggs were good quality so some of them ate them at the end.
PS. where is driske
This morning featured a similar run to yesterday's; same distance and time, but a different route. At least I'm consistent! Ha, ha! There were several other runners along the route, but they were all bundled up while I'm still strutting the bare legs. Hey, it's spring! Ha, ha! Enjoy the fresh air! Speaking of fresh air, it sure has been pleasant on our favorite thread lately. Do trolls hibernate in the spring? Ha, ha!
Time for another day off after doing 3 of the last 4. Hopefully this week will be less hectic and I can get some quality jaunts in. We'll see.
Keep up the good work, all!
Today: Gazzetta/Appia Run turned out to be 12.8k rather than 10k! Ordinarily one should be pretty puzzled but this is Rome and things can change quickly.
Anyway: it's a beautiful historic course going through the park of the ancient Appian way with a segment where Bikila ran during the 1960 olympics. Most inspiring. Ran barefoot.
Course is mixed: a small bit of asphalt; loads of "sampietrini" cobblestones; a consistent stretch of large roman-era "basolato" slabs. Then there were about 3.5km in the caffarella park of gravelly (of all shapes and sizes) trail on which i prefer to slow down.
Started real nice and slow and progressed to average 4:20/km. Last 3k were breezy.
Felt great. I am not a front-starter. Warmed-up or not, i need to ease into a race, find my form, my pace, my equilibrium. And then its smooth, smooth, glide-like-running...

Obviously not. Your still postin your lies.
For the week ending Apr 5th, 2009:
M=0
T=15min jog + 6min-5min-4min jog + put on spikes + 400m jog + 200m gallop + 200m surge + 100m in 15.54sec (speed record for the year) + 10min grass jog in spikes. Foot felt sore in spikes, dammit.
W=20min jog + 4x100m strides + Mile in 5:46 + 10min jog. I felt good on the warmup, but crappy on the Mile. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME???
T=Chesterman Beach: 45min easy + 4x100m accels + 5min easy. Ridiculous wind for the 45mins - almost running in place against it, flailing out of control with it.
F=Chesterman Beach: 60min + 4x70m accels + 5min. A strong session. I'm done with "superjogging". It's time to TRAIN. My foot problems are behind me. An excellent session. And the wind was fine, hahaha....
S=Ucluelet dirt track: 20min jog + put on spikes + 4x100m strides + 3x400m on 4min, in 77-73-72, + 10min grass jog in spikes. Ouch.....the last 400m was a real drag, hahaha....but, I suppose it touched 800m pace.
S=Chesterman Beach: 45min + 4x100m accels + 5min jog....SHIRTLESS, hahahaha. Wow....an awesome session. Japanese tourists snapped pics of me. Gorgeous weather.
42' along my most familiar route....same yipping dog....had a few choice words of advice for the owner....dog was tied up on my return trip.....there is hope for humanity....maybe even this one sided trolling could stop?....pining for the good old days....
today: at the park with kids on easter break. Helped my babysitter's daughter (6) to learn how to bike. Quite a bit of running side by side as she tried to keep on her two wheels. Actually a good workout in the end. Went on for an hour or so.
yesterday's race was awesome.
my feet are in glorious shape.
