Didn't Goucher run well over 28:00 at the Oregon invite last year? and he ended up running 13:10. I'll bet almost anything Webb goes sub 13:00 this year unless he peaked for this race, which is highly doubtful. Webb will hold every AR from Mile-10000 by the end of his career... well, maybe not 3mile and 6mile.

webb is just amazing. Ritz runnign a 3 second pr is a great sign for him as well...God please let him stay healthy so we can see what he can really do in some top races this summer. Fam!??? wow. He was talking about his amazing workouts with boaz last summer but never ran like he felt he could. Maybe he'll now reap those benefits finally. Fam has gone from one of our best right now last year, to possibly an alltime great if this translates into a huge steeple pr or 5k pr this summer.

I am truely astonished that this race turned out the way it did. Often a hyped up battle between promising young americans such as webb and ritz ends with one dropping out, getting hurt or running like crap. These guys both put it all out on the track tonight and turned some heads doing it. I really hope someone taped this race and is able to share it online somehow. You dont get many opportunities to see a classic battle like this, could be a race that will be looked back on for a long time as a significant point in American distance running.
from what i heard webb only ran hard enough to win. he has at least another 30 to 40 seconds faster in the right race.
the interesting subtext here is that if my memory is correct, webb now has a better 10,000 pr than Mottram (27:50). I think the coming year will see some exciting races with webb and mottram vs. the africans at 5k.

Webb owns just about everybody in the US at 10K down to 800. Perhaps, Ritz should move up to the marathon now? Just kidding.
IMO, Webb is ready to take aim at the AR in the mile and 1500 this summer. This proves that his base this past fall and winter is going to pay huge dividends this summer. My predictions: 3:29 and 3:46.

that list is missing some performances... the 2003 race with kennedy and ritz both going around 27:35 means pre was out years ago.

webb gets in the right race he will be first american under 27 for 10k
Actually Webb doesn't own everyone from the 800m up. There are several folks that can beat him in the 800m on a regular basis and he's only the 2nd fastest 1500/miler we have now plus his best 5k last year was 11 seconds slower than the US best from 2005. However, I think after this year, with no major champs, he will change that. I think he'll get the AR in the 5k and perhaps the mile as well. Maybe he can run a 3 mile and get that record too.

Why is this addressed to me? I never predicted anything about this race, let alone 28:08 for anyone.
I had a feeling Webb was going to run fast and win. I also thought Ritz was going to be right with him, but not Fam. That was the big story of the night. What was Fam's 10k pr before tonight? I thought he was a 3000-5000 meter guy. Webb now has a range of 1:46 for 800 and 27:34 for 10,000 meters. This guy is unreal.
and a 47.x open 400 to boot!
