O2, good to see you are back into it. Those early comeback runs are the hardest. Every little twinge appears to be a disaster about to happen. Stay tough, stay healthy.
Driske, the good news is we had cool rains the last 2 days and more to come. The nearly month long burns are now running out of power. Autumn promises cooler weather. Very pleasant running from now until perhaps next January. Our winter is nothing like yours. We sook when we get a minus 2 or 3 celsius in the mornings. Seldom a day that won't get at least to 10 deg C or about 50F. 300 days of sunshine per year, just need the rainfall to pick up to normal levels. The thought of months of freezing weather... too much for me too handle.
Yesterday's run was a fairly leisurely 1h 50m affair at 4pm. I headed into the Argyle forest, filled with kangaroos enjoying the cool damp conditions. 40 mins later I crossed the Kyneton rd and climbed a steep trail into the One Eye forest. The trails through here are nice and hilly. Picked it up to perhaps 4.30-40 per km. Came out onto a disused railway easement. Followed this back to town then across the creek and up to the lookout behind my place and a quick scramble home.
I do need to start structuring my running now as I am little more than a month from the start of my xc league.
