You have got to be kidding me. Willamette not short? It is probably 40 sec. (200m or so) short. Erichson ran his last 2 miles in 915. 915! Not a f***ing chance.
Erichsen is constantly getting reamed for coming into his own. Last winter it was that his 5K indoor was a lap short. Now this BS about an oft run course being 200m short. He is a three time All-American that is getting better and better. Why not a 9:15......

And about the 9:15 last mile. The marker for 3 miles was off this year I believe. Or at least in a different spot than the last couple of years. In general, the times through 3 miles seemed slow, with the last 2 being really fast. Put two and two together. The marker was just in the wrong spot.
Put two and two together and he didn't run an 8k. You think 14:55 through 3 miles (which is what he would have come through if he ran his last 2 miles in 915) is slow? I don't think the 3 mile mark was off, at best it was right on. That would have given him a time just under 25:00, which sounds right to me. No disrespect to Chris Erichsen, he still won handily. But seriously, he is NOT a 24:11 guy.
Purdy points put that performance at a 14:38 5k. Considering it was on a lot of pavement and he ran a low 14:30s at nationals this spring after a low 9 steeple, I would not say it is out of the realm of possibility that on a fast course on a good day he could run 24:11http://run-down.com/statistics/calc.php

I ran a number of races last year, Willamette being one of them.
My times -
25:10
25:23(Willamette)
25:26
25:02
Seems to me like Willamette is a pretty standard course, albeit normally quick due to the amount of pavement. The third mile mark is off. I came through 2 miles in 10:05, 3 in 15:33, and finished in 25:37 this year. No way I ran that 3rd mile in 5:28. It means the third mile is long, and therefore, the last two short, but does not mean the course itself is short.
The meet is almost right on.
whether it's short or not, it's ridiculously fast, and Erichsen's 24:10 is probably comparable to the top guys perfromances at Paul Short
I realize the course had a lot of pavement, but still, that conversion is for a track time of 24:11 for 8k, not in cross country. You can't use that to determine much of anything. Also, to the other posters who seem to be running just as fast at other courses, you are all from out West! All of your courses are fast and short. Get a f***ing clue.
Oh yes, you are right, all of our courses here are short...we don't have 8k courses here. We just measure them out, then take a couple hundred meters off them for kicks.
You are ridiculous.
Haha. That's my reaction to all of your posts so far.

what about the women contenders?

no one cares
What about the #1 returner from the Atlantic Region, probably the strongest region in the country
Toni Wiszowaty?
Wisz for the win - no doubt. The Plattsburgh W team will make a strong run for a team bid too although I'm not positive on their 4th and 5th woman strength. SUNYacs should be a good battle too maybe?
Willamette's team averaged about 25:30 on that course last year. They were 27th at Nationals. Just take the times with a grain of salt. They're fast, but they won't necessarily transfer to a good race at nationals.
It's a bit absurd that Willamette is now ranked 4th in the polls based off that race, but the polls also don't really matter, so who cares.

Nobody will touch Tyle Sigl. I saw him run at Griak and by god is he tough. If someone wants to go he will go with them, if not he will make his move at the right time and take the title. Surprise AA will be Cam Klein.
Im guessing you haven't seen Kosgei race yet.
