16 miles in the snow an dice 5F very windy!
Bailed out on my NYE midnight run at 400 yards.-10F and a heat sucking wind made indoor pursuits more appealing.
Today moderate temps paired with 2' fresh snow made for a good skiing conditions.17K at varied tempos.
AM - 55 mins walk
PM - brief wu, 12x200m pick ups (36-40 secs) with about 300m recovery (in the park 1K loop) 12x stairs (20secs to go up) - 65 mins total
Rode the mtb up to the top of Mt Ida and back. Best time on the climb for at least 2 years -39min 15s, previous best 43m. Took it a bit easy on the return for a 65m 15s total, still my best by 2mins. The hour mark is now a real possibility.
After the ride I went out and ran 40mins on the golf course, finished with a few stride outs.
Did 85mins on the bike yesterday.
1h45m under a very light drizzle with my buddy Marco.
Covered at least 22k in a pair of old, trashed, adidas which kinda look like the Arrow Cross Country Runners (but they have a more pronounced waffle-like sole and are red, blue and off-white) which have nothing left inside but the rubber sole. They're almost more minimal than my vibrams...
bike to work, will bike back.
30' today on the roads after 30' on the mill yesterday.....getting over a cold.....felt good to get outside....
Friday, X-C ski. 15 K @ moderate effort. Temp. 3F, calm.
Saturday, X-C ski, 70 min. solid effort. Balmy 28F, slick, fast snow. Good company.
Feeling good enough to contemplate a 42k race on Jan 24.
Time to bring burpee's into the routine.
Drove down to the outskirts of Melbourne for early run around my old stomping ground.
Battled through a fairly sluggish 95mins/19 hilly kms mostly in the "Forbidden Forest". It is an old favourite running area. Caught up with some of my old clubmates. Lovely morning but was getting into high 20s C by the end of the run.
Woops, forgot the burpees, bugger!!!
50 minute run. planned to start somewhere around 7 minute pace and then dropped, but started at 6:45. so just kept that pace and eventually dropped to 6:30. about 7.5 in 49:57 with shitloads of hills.
After doing some home chores and homework, crossed the park with my children running, throwing pine cones (not at anybody, duh), jumped from fallen trunks, and just basically mucked about until they were ready for lunch.
To honor this thread, we did some burpees.
Biked to work, will bike home.
Nice 13.1 on the Colchester 1/2 course 5am. Colchester, Ct. Possibly the toughest 1/2 course in the U.S. Record
Gideon Mutisya Kenya, American record Todd Brown Rockyhill, Ct., masters record Kevin McCaffrey Hebron, Ct.
Highly reccomended if you want to challenge yourself. 3rd. week in February. Check out hitekracig.com for schedule and contact info.
Final Family event of the Holidays today, so the training, or whatever I can get in, can get back on track.
Today: Abbreviated 15-minute run with 10 burpees in the middle. Try running, stop running then do some burpees, then start running again. Interesting how the body reacts.
Had a 50mins shakeout + 10x100m striders planned, but ended up running errands with my children and then taking them rollerblading in the park. Had to fix up lunch, few more chores so no way to catch up.
Life does get in the way sometimes and that's a good thing judging from my daughter beaming as she sped up and down the asphalt rink.
Biked to work, will bike home.
There's an Epiphany day 10K tmw on the other side of townj. Think i'll ride over and do some tempoing...
...almost forgot... and i'll throw a couple of burpees here and there, just to honor this thread.
6 miles last night 1/9 moonlit awsome veiws!

Is it no coincidence that it occurred at Fleetfoot's change of "subject" line?
Is this one of the most MODerated threads or what?
I'm willing to go on skype with Weldon Johnson on this if he is up to it. He knows where to find me.
