7 miles, way too windy in london
7 miles, way too windy in london
7" new snow, falling temps and driving wind pre-empted any and all recreational activities.
That was a full slate TPCB. Whew!
today:
Rest. My son and wife have a fever. Some tyding up to do. Made sense to take a rest day. Would have liked a 4-5mile shake out, but so it goes.
it happened back in september i believe, but here we go:
i'm a freshman in college and on what was a "day off" on a monday, i decided to keep on running because i'm no soft pretzel. So I decided to run with my old high school teammates (most of them are seniors). Well we had a few juniors with us and a sophomore. Anyway, we were running I believe 7 miles that day. We were at a cross-walk waiting for the walking guy to appear. A guy pulls out of a Wendy’s drive-thru and hands a white frosty shake to one of the guys that were in our group (and it was a fresh one made). We cross and continue our run.
As were running along, one of the juniors who in our group (which no one really like because how annoying he is) always tries to make fun of me in some dumb-a$$ way. Even though he’s got a hot sister and we make fun of him about that a lot, it wasn’t going to work this time. So I turned and noticed that the guy in our group who got the free frosty still had a lot left in it. So I asked politely if I could have the rest. Well the junior who was trying to make fun of me was actually running ahead of me.
So I took one swing of the frosty shake and BAM!!!!!! White frosty all over his shirtless back. Yeah it might have been a dick move, but everyone in our group just died laughing and actually wanted me to do that in the first place. The kid I threw it at tied to chase me down, but failed and actually ran back to his high school, only running 3 miles that run.
That was one for the books.
Somewhat out of context, nonetheless with descriptive narrative value about one day with running.
So... loosely, but your post fits.
This is an easy going thread.
In general, one may argue, try not to hurt people unless they are really, really, really bad.
You might end up regretting it.
just came back from being sick so i went for an easy 4 miles probably between 7:10-7:30 pace. I don't know the exact distance but i know that i ran for 30:00 even.
Got up at 4:25AM to reshovel the d-way, start the cars get to work early (5:50AM) to get the weekend paperwork pile moving (bright side: my supervisor got stuck and didn't make it in until 10AM owing to traffic, blocked driveway, drifts and on-the-road rush hour accidents...had to hit the store on the way home (yikes!), drop off some gifts, then re-dig the end of the driveway, my mailbox and the fire hydrant.
POINT: if you have a fire hydrant near your residence, take a few minutes to dig it out after it snows. The home (and lives) you save might include your own.
Got in the house, wrapped some gifts and put away the stuff from the store put some a bathrobe & some slippers and almost feel asleep when I made contact with a chair.
This was after yesterday's marathon snow shoveling workout.
Guess I'll take tonight off.
that should read "put ON a bathrobe"...I'm shot
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
running dog your not fooling anyine. its one thing to be called skuja but another entirely to imitate skuj.
"the point could be", he was ok. i let him threw a nerf football at my face point blank once we got back (didn't get a bloody nose or anything). all is good.
sorry it wasn't too descriptive about running, but i'll make it up saying this:
ran 10 miles yesterday at a park in 10 degree weather w/ i believe a 10 mph wind or faster...terrible. face was frozen cold, fingers numbed...i don't know wat was worse: the rolling hills on the lake or being out in the open w/ the wind smacking you upside the head. good thing was that there was a christmas light show within my final mile to keep my mind off the cold weather.
An easy eight mile with an old friend. I could have pushed the pace a bit more but she is a little out of shape, but it was 8:15 pace so a little slow but it was good catching up.
Ran 1hour 45mins. Mostly on rough forest trails (lots of orienteering required) with some paddock running and one section of hilly dirt road. Some pretty solid work especially on the hills. Had a close encounter with 2 beautiful wedge-tail eagles. Temp. mid 20sC and sunny.
Rode a cruisy hour in the morning with a Canadian visitor.
Did 75 mins around the lake on the bike yesterday then 15mins of running interupted by a short swim.
Sunday was a nice 2h plus run on forest trails (lots of orienteering)done at a slow pace.
Saturday was a 2h40min forest ride and a 20 min run with a couple of faster pickups.
0... stuck in airports trying to get home for holidays... its not looking good (the pacific northwest is a mess right now...)
Driske, glad to know I can catch and eat some goannas and not embarass myself by farting at the table.
King Brown's, fortunately, are not among our local fauna. The buggers are fearsomely aggressive and as deadly as any snake in the world. Our red bellied black snakes are much prettier, less aggressive and you hve some hope of surviving their bite.
0....I need to get back out there. It's been three days since my last run. I feel like crap....
"simple really" "Frosty..." whoever, sorry didn't mean to be a moralizing pain...it just hit me as a chilly and dated account.
Anyway, all's good, all's good.
And along these lines some xmas prepping is making running impossible but you know what? It feels ok to take a break and give some extra space to family and friends.
today: biked to work wil bike home.
gonzo: abouth this hydrant thing, i am not sure exactly what you want me to do. There's no snow. In fact i don't even think we have hydrants as such here in Rome...Anyway, your shovelling is impressive. Although i suppose if you had not been so diligent, well you could have come in with your boss at 10...
yeah dude, all is good.
ran 9 yesterday...still cold as can be. fingers got numbed again from being 15 degrees w/ wind, even when the warmth of the sun was out. it actually warmed up 15 degrees today so it should be a decent weather run.
simple,
Are you looking for a semantic challenge ("here's a really chilly account!") or you just could not be bothered to put functional gloves on?

i thought i had good gloves on, little did i know that if its colder than 25 degrees the gloves become absolutely useless to wear.
it's a bit retro but it has always worked. Socks, worn as mittens. You can fold them over for double layer if weather changes abruptly. With two pairs of socks your hands will endure anything. Regards,
