All the shit talk about how road/ track guys can crush ultra runners. Time to find out. Aish was a world class Olympian. He ran a 50 mile race a few weeks ago and missed the course record by a few minutes that was set by a ~17:00 5k runner. He says he's going to crush the 100 and has been running 150-200 miles a week.
My prediction. DNF.
Aish wasn't "world class". He was a solid runner but not world class. 13:22 and 27:46 are good, but not competitive internationally. More concerning is that it has been along time since his PRs.
In truth, its a win-win for the anti-ultra crowd. He does well and it's "we told ya so", but if he doesn't then you can (somewhat viably) say "he wasn't THAT good" or "he is past his prime.
