(1) In the USA, the number one predictor of happiness is being married (positive). You got that one, don't take it for granted.
(2) The number two predictor of happiness is commute distance (negative). Buy a place close to where you will work. People who say they don't mind commuting are like the runner who says he listens to his body, but doesn't. Less time for commuting means more time for keeping the wife happy (see #1), and more time for running. :)
Good schools is a priority, but schooling is 3-4 years away, so it cannot be your highest priority. A lot can happen in 4 years, including the school rankings could change. Consider too that living close to work also means working close to the school (for example parent/teacher meetings), more time to help with homework, etc. All this might have more impact on your children than being in the absolute best school system.
