Many 18+ year olds are still on a leash from their parents for financial reasons, especially related to college expenses. They then use that financial burden to control your choices in life. I've seen this happen countless times. Nice education you got there.Putting your kids in a boarding school is failing as a parent because it shows that you think someone else can do a better job with the social and emotional development of your children. The fact that you preferred your boarding school experience to being with your family during your development into an adult illustrates my point perfectly.Now you've (presumably) grown up, and marginalized the importance of family, and you'll do the same to your children.Congratulations.

1. You don't have to emancipate yourself when you turn 18. You just turn 18 - that's it. Nice education you got yourself there.
2. How is having your kids in a boarding school failing as a parent. I went to am amazing boarding school for grades 10-12, and wouldn't change a thing about it. All of the things I loved about college, except earlier and of course a bit more supervised.
