Estrada will likely represent Mexico in the Olympics, but Joseph Chirlee needs to be added to the list. He ran 28:16 last night and will be allowed to compete in the trials. So that still puts Ritz at 26th.

Don't worry. Chaplin will just screw some runner who has legitimately qualified to make room for Ritz, just like he has done multiple times before.
He doesn't have the 5000 "B" standard, so I assume he would try to get it at one of those.

As a former two-time Olympian and two-time bronze medalist at world championship events, he has every right to appeal. As a practical matter, as long he his healthy enough to be on the starting line, he would lap many of the "qualifiers" ahead of him, and I would personally add him, while not kicking out any of the other 24 as they did to Shannon Butler. That way, it's not like anyone's getting screwed, except the other 25th non-qualifier, who probably hasn't accomplished jack compared to Ritz anyway. Let's just hope he gets the qualifier out of the way to avoid the drama.
