Oh well, I tried. Cut the out of the penultimate position and moved it to the end, but this primitive website won't take it. So there you have it... Quincy Watts, Steve Lewis, and Danny Everett among others. Some do actually achieve their potential post high school.
Will be exciting to see what this Texas kid does.
For certain I though you were at the Penn Relays and had found the 2nd coming of William Reed.
Thanks for the information.
You are welcome. Ive never seen a HS kid run a second 200 like he did.

Not to surprising, Bailey is one of 3 H.S. kids I predicted would go sub-45 this year.
That's quite a prediction, given that only one H.S. kid has ever run sub-45.
Thanks for posting the full results. So, to put it in perspective, imagine running 47.4 at a hs meet and still losing by 2.2 seconds... or running 47.9 at a regional meet and not making state. That might not be unheard of, but it would seem pretty unusual. I guess that, if you're going to lose to someone, this Bailey kid is the guy to lose to.
Was browsing some of the other results and saw the 3:12 mile relay he apparently anchored with the 44 high split. They only beat the runner up by .03, so he must have stalked someone down BAD. Turns out it's the same school as the runner up in the 400m. How'd you like to get the stick 20m ahead of this guy? Yikes.
Looks like another team from the same town of Mansfield ran 3:16 in the 4x4. Thought that was interesting. I wonder what the conditions were like in Lubbock and, related to that, if there's any upside for this guy to go faster at the state meet. Will have to keep an eye on it.
83 degrees with a mild breeze. The weather was quite sprintlicious.
Wasn't there a kid from Dorsey high school in Cali who ran sub 46 like 7 or 8 years ago? I was expecting him to be one of the 6 names on watchout's list but he wasn't. Anyone know who I'm thinking of and/or what happened to the guy?
that picture of Zimmerman at the starting line works wonders.
The girls 4 x 400 relay had another record I think. Two of the girls are sisters and went 1 and 3 in the 800 as well as 1 and 5 in the open 400 I believe.

David Gettis -- ran 45.84 as a prep (which is why I didn't include him in my post). He opted for football instead of track (he is a WR for the Panthers)
Ohh snap, I was expecting him to be a bust since I hadn't heard anything. Thanks for the info!

You're texting on Letsrun while driving? WOW.
Not a problem in West TX. Traffic is basically non-existent.
Saw a hs girl run 52.4 this evening at the tx state meet in Austin. Truly a magical run on a rainy night. Boys was somewhere around 47.06, if I remember correctly. Hope to have time tomorrow to sneak by and see the large class portion of the meet.
The meet is on flotrack and he will be running very soon.
I saw Steve Lewis run 46.3 open at the Meet of Champions at Edwards Stadium in Berkeley back in 1987. That was awesome. And then the next year he ran 43 to win gold at 19.
45.90...tied up at the end. 100m won at 10.19 and 200 at 20.58. Pretty amazing. 800m wire to wire in 1.49.2.
the 200m 20.58 was vs a 1.1 wind also.
Craig Novack ran 55.33 last lap on a 4:06 for 1600.
comes back and splits 45.5 to bring his team from 8th to 3rd on the anchor of the 4x4. this kids crazy.
