Unfortunately, when you're in the military service--they own you 24/7. You also have to uphold certain rules and if you don't follow them...well..

Back in the day (before the internet) we had certain rules to follow when it came to socializing. In other words, we had an image to adhere to and what not. Certain "bars" were limited or prohibited.

If you were caught going to them, then you would be punished or reprimanded.

Bottom line, when you sign the document, you better make sure you READ the fine lines. In other words, keep your thoughts to yourself or on an anonymous board like this?

You guys are crazy if you think you can reform the Marines. Hell they still drown recruits in the swamp, and torture people in the brig. Congress allows only the Marines to use physical and mental torture in training exercises. Marines get so jacked up, colonels and generals regularly call each other out and have fist fights with each other. They're nuts. No wonder L.A.P.D. is full of ex-Marines.

They had this topic on a right wing radio show I listen to yesterday, and I was surprised that every caller that was a veteran agreed he should be discharged, even though many admitted they agreed with what he said.

This is true but because this was the president, people seem to think it is a infringement upon the First Amedment. Of course, the gov could not prosecute a civillian for saying the same thing this Sgt said but his case is different. Every military member knows that they are not allowed to bad mouth the POTUS (in a public forum). This guy knew it but done it anyway. Now the ACLU is trying to claim first amendment rights but they do not apply the same to the military.

He learned his lesson.

He should have been dismissed. Insubordination is in their code of conduct.

I agree with you. I suspect, however, that many that feel the same as us would also say smoking a joint isn't a big deal. As long as you are smoking illegally, you're a loser and you should be punished. I don't know how people can be so two-faced.

Marine insubordination = he should be dismissed

Smoking marijuana illegally = it's no big deal...alcohol is more dangerous than weed!

I don't really see your point here. If you smoke weed and get caught you expect to go through the judicial system and take any punishment netted out. You can still argue against the stupidity of those laws and not be 2 faced. This guy can (and has) argued against his dismissal. This does not make him 2 faced.

Posting his political opinions and stating he will not follow Obama's orders on Facebook is plain stupid as would be blowing a joint while sitting on the front steps of the police department.

He absolutely deserves to be kicked out of the Marines.

Even in the marines if you said I'm not doing that you would only get in trouble if you actually disobeyed an order
