The first is an easy read for non-experts. I haven't read the second one yet, but I assume it is as well written as the first since it's by the same author.

In my lifetime of experience, the only time I saw my life flash before my eyes as a passenger in a car was when riding with a 16-year old female driver who misjudged a left turn so badly, she nearly killed us all.

My 16 year old male friends would occasionally drive like maniacs while racing, but they never turned left in front of speeding semi trucks for no apparent reason.

Here's another anecdote: in high school my friends used to race each other in our small town. This was not a rural area, so they were racing on fairly busy streets and residential neighborhoods. The last time we raced a kid in a minivan doing 80 went off the road into a tree. Luckily he didn't die or kill anyone else.

If I remember right he was racing a kid in a Prius, so it was actually pretty fair. 17 year old guys do really, really stupid things in cars.

Ok, little lady. Feel free to continue cutting across four lanes of traffic without signaling while you're texting your friends. The screeching and crashing sounds all around you are all just a result of crappy male drivers.

I'm a guy, and I find it amusing that a lot of men are so certain that men are better drivers than women. I keep wondering if they're just insecure because over time science and a more tolerant society has shown that women are generally a lot smarter and more skilled than men believed in the past, and even (gasp!) better than them in some areas.

Do you other guys feel threatened? I don't. I figure most women and most men are equally skilled when it comes to driving. Why should we care even if there is some slight variation? Is some sort of ego boost derived from knowing that the half of the population that you identify with is slightly better at something than the other half of the population? So instead of harping on women drivers, take a look at your own driving. Take pride in being the best (and hopefully safest) driver you can be instead of making broad and biased generalizations that seem to come down to your apparent belief that Adam was created with a wheel in his hands and a foot on the brake pedal, and I'll see you out on the road, where hopefully you won't cut me off while neglecting your turn signal. Whoever you are, male or female, please just drive safe.

All men are not the same but the vast majority are less flustered and more skilled operating moving vehicles. A majority of women are like confused old people and get skittish too quickly and make sudden reactions to cause minor accidents. There is a lapse of attention, focus, or confidence and I've seen it time and time again. My mother, sister, girlfriends who got nervous driving in the rain or had to constantly rely on me if I was the passenger to check if it was ok to switch lanes on the highway.

I've known 3 women that absolutely refused to drive on highways. Never known a man in my life that needed you to drive him somwhere because he was too nervous to get out in that kind of traffic.

Nonetheless men I'm sure cause the most damage due to speeding, road rage, drinking and driving.
