He shouldn't be fired for having an affair. He should be fired for putting on her the schools payroll for $55,000.00. Why is the AD making the call on his future. I would think the president should fire both these guys. The AD had to be aware that they created this job for her.
Chiming in to state the obvious...
...But I had worked closely with a major D-1 football team, saw all the ins and outs, saw the ridiculous sense of entitlement these boneheaded coaches and support staff have, and stared in disbelief at the salary list of these created "jobs" which were occupied by vapid eye candy.
It was a frequent topic of discussion with the rest of the athletic department - especially assistant coaches of non-revenue sports who were making substantially less than the office bimbos but had integral roles in bringing titles to our school. Meanwhile, our football program would stumble to third rate bowl appearances and suck the budget dry with crazy expenses (does that student assistant really need an iPad?).
Unfortunately, we had no right to really complain. You have to side with hiring the bimbo because football made a TON of money for our school (season ticket prices were jacked up, fans still paid) and it worked as a trickle down effect in that our fringe sports were secure in the budget.
Corrupt as it is, BCS college football helps pay for EVERYTHING. When you do A LOT, you get away with A LOT.
