He just needs to maintain his current level of speed which I think he can do through the 2016 Olympics as long as he keeps doing his speed training. Meanwhile he will keep on getting incrementally stronger year by year.
I see him being a 5/10K man through next year's World Championships
spot on
rupp's basic speed ( 400m ) is very little different from geb/kennster
some lines of fit :
rupp ~
51.7 / 1'48.8 -> 3'33.2 , 7'26.7 , 12'49.3 , 26'46.0
kennster/geb ~
51.4 / 1'47.8 -> 3'30.7 , 7'20.0 , 12'36.4 , 26'15.3
mo last year maya had best speed ~
50.9 / 1'47.4 -> 3'30.9 , 7'22.8 , 12'43.8 , 26'37.6
the question is how good is your endurance ?
the better endurance, the more of your basic 400 speed you can bring to the last lap
in an open 400, i'd suggest mo woud whup kennster/geb with rupp slightly behind them, but not disgraced
rupp coud do with fraction more speed ( probably thru weights ) but he's pretty much up there...
