Not a good comparison. 3 of the 4 players on that list are either selfish or gutless and that's the main reason they lost. Subtract Anthony and Iverson and replace them Brian Scalabrine and 50 year old Jack Haley and they win gold.

Yes. That is my point.
They lost because of the people who selected the NBA team. That's why they changed the selection process after that year. They finally realized the rest of the world caught up and can't be treated like the Washington generals.
Track relay teams are not comparable because you need so much practice to pass the stick?Certainly not in a 4X4.

At least three of them WOULD have gone, two more probably could have done it.
I doubt Kentucky would win.
1. Bobcats are an awful NBA team but they still have better players to match up against the Kentucky guys.
2. The reason the Bobcats look so bad is because some nights they barely try. The NBA guys would get up for a game against a bunch of college kids and put them in their place. It probably wouldn't even be close.

This is the answer. Fans get crazy (or fanatical) when they speak of such things. Kentucky or any other great college team may have 3-4 NBA-bound basketball players on it if they're lucky. An NBA team has ALL OF ITS PLAYERS that are NBA bound. Takes a while for MOST NBA rookies to get the hang of things.
ANY NBA team would kill Kentucky, even as good as they are.

They beat the US by eight points and had Manu Ginobili, Luis Scola and Andres Nocioni, who have all had good NBA careers. At the time you could argue Ginobili was one of the best players in world. Not to mention all of the rest of their players played pro ball in Europe.
Sure, if you put a bunch of pros together in a one-day, one-game scenario (like the Olympics) this will happen. If you look at the Wizards roster EVERY guy on there was All-Conference, All-American, All-Something in college. Pretty much all of them were 15-20 PPG scorers in college. Now they are pros and are more mature and bigger and physically stronger.
Anyone on the Wizards would start and probably be a star for Kentucky. It wouldn't even be close.

Better Question: What about Costa Rica? They opened that Olympics by losing to Carlos Arroyo and Costa Rica. That said, I take the Bobcats. Kentucky is big for a college team, but NBA teams are just bigger than college teams. Kentucky has a guy at 6-11 and a guy at 6-10, but Charlotte has 2 7 footers, plus a guy at 6-11 and a guy at 6-10. The 'Cats' 2 7-footers outweight Kentucky's heaviest player by 25 pounds. Kentucky is quick, but they would be physically out-matched.
