Yep several guys did run faster 50 miles within their 100ks. If you knew anything about ultra racing that's not a surprise. Course difficulty is a huge part of time. This aint track and field fool!

Andy Henshaw averaged one seceond slower per mile on Mad City's 100K as pimp himself ZB did for his Door County road 50 mile. Mad City is a loop course, Door County is a point-to-point, but if you knew anything about both course you'd agree both are on roads, are very similar in regards to elevation, and weather was not a factor when either race was run.
Who has Zach ever beat? The only race he ran with some comp David Riddle smoked him. Dude loves to self promote but until he actually beats someone then I do not care how many miles he runs a week.
Plus there are a few other ultra guys that run just as much if not more a week..they just do not need to shout it from the rooftops.
Wow! What a bunch of losers! I've read this guy's blog. He's just outlining his training and racing. I could be wrong, because I haven't read all his posts, but I never saw him say he was better than anyone. He is obviously good, or you idiots wouldn't be getting so worked up over the whole situation. If you guys really have a problem with him, why don't you email him? He put his email on his blog. But no...non of you will. Instead you will make up a fake name and rip him on LetsRun.
This is the same guy who posted, "Should this guy go pro?" after one of his races last fall. He's an above average ultra guy, but as has been mentioned earlier, someone who has faced minimal competition (No secret there just aren't a lot of quality ultra guys because of the little or no prize money). I think posters are commenting because this guy abnormally loves pimping himself and the products he uses. Love to see him run Ultra Race of Champions to get humbled a bit.

Congratulations on your winning another local race at Ice Age. However, here's the deal. What do you think your worth to potential sponsor? If your on here to promote, at least have the set to own it and be proud of promoting what you do, don't be a coward and post in 3rd person so you can count the hits on your Blog, nobody really gives that much of a shit.

What's impressive? Mileage? What impresses me is someone who consistantly performs at a high level at his/her chosen endeavor and let's his/her performances speak for themselves. Not a big fan of arrogant bloggers. This guy looks like he posts everything except the time of day he takes a crap. Drop the narcissism, train hard, and let your performances do the talking.
He's good. All of you children who think that, because you can break 31 minutes for a 10k, you are better than he is are delusional. That said, Zach writes as if he is a malfunctioning robot. Maybe 180 mile weeks don't leave much time to think, or edit, but, sheez! The writing is, in fact, very very bad! Zach, I need to believe that the entries that I read are not your best effort. Put the same effort in to your blog as you put into your training.
I ran 27.21 miles last week and I am not bitter at all about it.
Most ultra runners don't run fast marathons, so they post their mileage to get attention. I'm not a big fan of self-indulging runner blogs and agree that race results should speak for themselves.

What do you consider a "fast" marathon and how many of ALL runners can run that time?
I realize there are a few exceptions (ex. Wardian), but most current ultra guys can't/couldn't run an olympic marathon trials qualifying time. Just my humble opinion, but that's what I would consider a fast marathon time. Runner's posting low 2:30's or mid 2:20's is very respectable, but when I think of fast I'm thinking top tier fast, especially when you have this guy talking about "turning pro."
I ran 34 miles, and drank 16 beers. That's a 50 in my log.
