Finnerty is healthy, just not very fast.
Hear Poore is injured.
Hear Blankenship and Mead are injured.
Bayer will win everything he is entered in.
Nebraska wins going away as they only thing they do not have is distance.
Wisco always races there big guys by mid februyary- usually at the Husky Classic. If Darling and Ahmed don't race there then they are both redshirting, either as a result of injury or to focus on Outdoor. Maybe they are targeting Olympic Trials?
check out the arkansas tyson meet this weekend for wisco entries
It would make sense for Mo to train through the winter and focus on outdoors as he has a legitimate shot at making the Olympics this summer. Maverick on the other hand has no chance of being an Olympian (at least in 2012) so the fact that he has not raced yet suggests that there have been some injury issues. He's running the 3K this weekend, but unless he's going to try for a 5K qualifier at Big 10s I guess he's not planning on indoor nationals. Where's Brice? Where's Shields?
I think Leslie at Ohio State at 3:56 for the mile is a competitor that could make Bayer a little worried. He's older and experienced enough to put him in position no matter what the pace is.
Most of the Wisconsin 800-5k guys have raced, but just have not run fast times, which you can decipher whatever that means.
Collins and Connor who were All Americans in XC both got beat by "slower" teammates last Weekend in Nebraska. Finnerty appears to be coming back from injury again. Mellon and Mudd are running slower than their HS times. Darling and Ahmed are either hurt or not racing. It looks like the only good time for Wisconsin is Hatz's converted 4:01 mile, but that won't go too far in the Big Ten.
Overall if Wisconsin's distance doesn't step up in the next two weeks, the Badgers are in trouble.
Leslie has no speed.
But no idea why he runs the steeplechase either?
NEBRASKA - They already lead the list and always pull a couple more out of nowehere and they're at home.
WISCONSIN - Lets skip when everyone says they don;t care about indoors or that they're not going to dominate the distance area. That attitude may play at Iona, but Mick is responsible for keeping up with thei multi, mid-distance, and various field event guys.
OHIO STATE - Seem to always be in top 3 over last 5 years.
MINNESOTA - Would put them ahead of OSU if Blankenship is running? Mead will easily win 3k and 5k (again!)
PENN STATE - All that middle distance is great and they've added some sprinters, a triple jumper, and 2 high jumpers. No throws and no 3k or 5k will keep them out of top 3 (as usual)
INDIANA - Distance guys will be equal to Badgers (about time), but HJ'er is out, pole vaulters struggling, no throwers, and only one sprinter keeps them out of top half.
MICHIGAN STATE - Get that throws coach a raise because them and the jumpers is it.
ILLINOIS - Riley is god. Not much else i they end up redshirtign Fraker.
PURDUE - a couple scorers, but still suck.
MICHIGAN - Fired at end of season or give new staff another year?

Iowa doesn't even get an analysis. How hurt they must be.

He has poor accelleration. Maybe that's what you mean by speed. He needs a fast race. At least 2:01 but that never happens at Big 10 Indoors.
He's a steepler since he's neither a bullet quick finishing 1500 runner in a tactical race, or a 5000/10,000 guy.
Leslie has plenty of speed just no strength (see cross country). I watched him run 1:49 on Michigans terrible track 45 minutes after leading whole way in a 4:06 mile. He can run 1:47 in the 800! I agree he should get out of steeple (especially only running 60 miles per week!)
Hatz run a Wisconsin record of 3:58 to win at Arkansas while Arun adds even more to his resume matching (on an OT versus a 176m?) the legendary Martin McGrady's 1:07.67? exact number?), IU runs 9:29 with a slow 800 and Mead hits 13:33.
Of course, Derrick ran 13:19 and was the fourth collegian in the race!.
Leslie also just ran 1:48.03 at Washington winning his heat and placing 3rd overall. Seems like good "speed"?
After this weekend, Nebraska will win by over 20 points

They could be looking at 50+ in the first three events to end (PV,LJ,SP).
Block (WI) hits 61-7 in the SP this weekend.
Elliot Krause finished 6th at USATF X/C.
Have to admit I do not know much about Nebraska Track and Field, other than they're strong in field events and sprints.Do they have much in distance (800-5000m) to offset Gophers, Wisco, Indiana strengths? Should make for an interesting Big 10 indoor.
They have just about everything but distance, and given the multitude of well-stocked teams those points will be split. Nebraska has probably the largest contingent of foreign athletes in the BIG Ten (by far?).
[Distances were tough competition in the Big 12 before as well as in the Big Ten now. How long will they stay at the bottom in cross country; they will probably not use many scholarship slots on distance, at least for the men.]
They will probably get enough points with an array of firsts and some 'dominated events' (see post above about SP, LJ,.. above) to beat a field that will being splitting the rest of the points.
