Let's go Jordanek and Bair!!
Let's go Jordanek and Bair!!
2 guys who absolutely never stick their nose in it. They'll be in back and try to outkick a bunch to finish 3rd and 5th and miss breaking 4 as usual!
This will be crazeeee to watch. could be very fun to see or a train wreck along the way to the finish.
Im hope Sergio is the pacer because he'll get eaten alive
Shayla Houlihan 1500- 4:32.71 (2008)
Is this legit? This girl is going to get wrecked, 20 seconds slower than the fastest seeded 1500m woman, that would be like throwing a 4:18 mile guy into this race.

They've both broke 4 already, and Jordanek never sits and kicks. He always goes out with the leaders and if you watch his sub four run he took the lead in the race for a while.

OK shut up about Liam! the guy is lame with a gay headband. He will not win. Maybe 4th , 3rd at best.
THEY BOTH BROKE 4 FOR THE 1ST TIME AFTER BEING IN ABOUT 20 RACES WHERE THE WINNER BROKE 4 AHEAD OF THEM AND THEY WERE TOO SCARED TO BE UNDER 3-FLAT AT 1200.

20? Really? I know Sam had half a dozen or so races that this might have been the case but I believe Jordanek was maybe in one or two. Maybe you give links to results?
Sam Bair has been a consistent and durable runner since his days at Pitt. He's 25 years old, 2 years out of college, running/training entirely on his own with no sponsorship (in Boulder, as I understand), and still running under 4:00 for a mile. Plus, I understand that he is one of the hardest working, most unassuming, least cocky guys around.
I would also bet that Sam has some untapped talent at 3000m indoors and 5000m outdoors. He has great range, with :48 400m /1:49 800m speed and 23:40 8k/30:30 10K credentials from when he ran collegiate XC a few years back. That's pretty solid range for an unattached runner who is training almost entirely on his own.
Anyone with any compassion or any knoweldge of competitive running at a high level would be ROOTING for Sam Bair (and others like him) to do well and pick up a sponsorship.
Even if PUMA doesn't pan out for him, look for him to get into a few fast races in May/June and make a substantial improvement at 1500m.
My guess that the girls have almost no chance. Even if the guys go out slow, they'll still end up running 4:05. that means a girl would have to go run 4:35. Not happening.
Wow. These women look terrible. Someone running a 4:05 equivalent 1500 (30 sec head start) will be over 20 seconds behind the men.

Sounds like this is from Sam? if not you have some nerve thinking the other guys and girls in this race are just not as hard working and humble. Do you know all the runners? I didn't think so!
This Puma Mile is just great for the sport and it would of been cool to follow all the runners the last month so everyone could get to know them.
go puma go...I am not Sam, never even met him. I agree with you 100%, my point was to support/refute the negative statements about Sam. I also know that Ian Fitzgerald has been working hard and is a classy person as well, and I am sure the other 18 people in the race have been working hard too.
When I speak about Sam being a "humble" guy, take a look at the flotrack video of the PUMA Mile from last year and watch Torrence running how the homestretch acting like a total idiot. That's the antithesis of what Sam and I am sure mots of these guys and ladies are all about.
I wish all fo the hardworking men and women luck in this race.

Torrence was making it fun, playing to the crowd. We need more people like him in our sport. Everyone at Puma loved it!

This is so Sam. How do you know his 400 speed? Dude get a life and I hope you get your as# Kicked!
What happens if the men false start?
I only know that Bair ran for Pitt and chased a sub 4:00 mile for a long time. If your an eastern USA T and F fan, you'd know this too unless you've been brain dead since around 2003. I googled "Sam Bair" and found an article that mentioned when he was in HS he split a 48 in the 4x4. It's not hard to do.
I disagree with Torrence. You don't have to be a total jackass (holding your hand up to your ear the last 20-30 meters of the race) and can win with dignity and class instead of making a mockery of the sport. I know Ovett used to do that stuff, but when the Torrences of the world do it, it's laughable.
