Even then kicker are paid as much as Bolt earns in one meet for the entire year. Most NFL coaches look down on kickers (unless it's no time on the board and a 3-pointer wins it). Even then. The snap, the focus, the made or missed point. Not even close.
The highest paid kicker, Robbie Gould makes $3.1 million a year. 20 games (16 regular season, plus 4 preseason not counting any playoffs). This comes to $155,000 per game. He averages 3.2 field goal attempts and 2.5 extra point attempts, per game. From snap to kick, clock stopping he averages 20 seconds of play time each game with kickoffs.

ESPN once broke down Roger Clemens's last contract when he only pitched for a couple of months (and a couple of games) and it came out to something like $104.50 per minute. However, I don't think he pitched as many innings and games as originally projected so I would assume that the number is higher, but still a ridiculous figure nonetheless.
I think you need to count the entire play of the kickoff to be time that the kicker is being paid for. It is true that not much is expected of him once the ball leaves his foot, but he still has some responsibility for the duration of the play after he has kicked the ball. He can't simply kick off and then run off the field as soon as the ball is in the air.
By that logic the 1st round draft pick college QB who rides the pines all year behind the veteran yet never takes one snap is the highest paid.

Most of us spend time getting to work in the morning, but I don't think that many of us would include the drive in to be a part of what we are paid for doing. yes, but to take your analogy to another level, if you were to go on a business trip you would get virtually every thing paid - travel, accomadation, etc. so bolt doesn't get paid to drive to practice everyday, but when he goes to zurich to race everything would be paid for.

Another tidbit is Jim Kelly. when Kelly left college, he was offered an unusually large amount of money to play in the short-lived USFL. His salary was soemthing like 2 million per year, when everyone else in the NFL was making about 1/2 that. The league folded, and so it came out that Kelly got about $400,000 per game.

You still think Mike Tyson is an athlete? but you did have a good point about the KO in '88 against Spinks in 91 seconds. Assuming he got $30,000,000 that would have been over $1 billion per hour!!

Similar to Bolt: $1 for running 100m. $(very big number) for being able to do it in 9.58 seconds.
