That's all well and good, but it's worth noting that in the event of a domestic dispute, SOP for police is to restrain and if need be arrest whichever party appears to present the greater physical threat. So even if a woman is the instigator in a fight, or uses more force, the man is usually the one who gets charged when the domestic abuse report is filed.

Lots of equality is great in theory, but until women make an active push for equal legal status for men and women, I'm not buying into the idea that you guys truly want it.

We don't care if you buy into it or not. Feminism is like a runaway snowball gaining momentum. It's too late for you to turn back time. You've had your chance. Now we have ours.

Women want thier cake and to eat it too. They want all combat roles in the military opened to women but don't want to sign up for the draft. They want equal pay in the board room and they want 6 months of maternity leave when they decide to get pregnant (as many times as they wish).

They want to be treated like ladies but want to act like a man.

To the OP, in some quarters the words have become synonymous. But, I would recommend shying away from that. Instead, I would "reclaim" the word "feminism." State that you are a feminist, and that you believe in equality of the sexes and deconstruction of traditional roles. Then, make strongly state your beliefs that the greatest threat to gender equality is the double standard men are held to, i.e. they must allow women to behave non-traditionally but they themselves must behave very traditionally.

I agree with the OP. The only people I know who aren't horribly annoyed by feminists are feminists themselves. I even have pretty liberal friends who are annoyed by their horribly sexist policies.

The fact of the matter is that out of any large group of people you will always be able to find smart ones, annoying ones, violent ones, saintly ones, liars...pretty much anything you want to find. Morons like you know a few annoying individuals who identify themselves as feminists and conclude that this is how feminists are while completely overlooking the 98% of real feminists who are not sexist, misandrist...

You could play the same game with cops, environmentalists, men, Christians...Unless of course you wanted to stop being a moron. But that would take some effort on your part.

Take child bearing as an example. Without children, society would crumble. Reproduction of the population is the most essential activity that goes on in our society. What DOES bother me is when feminists belittle women who choose to make child rearing a priority. If a woman chooses to stay at home and be a mother, she shouldn't be treated like a "Scab" or an "Uncle Tom."

At a certain point, though, the movement has to take responsibility for this attitude.

I used to say that people shouldn't blame the Catholic Church for the rampant pedophilia because it wasn't priests, it was sick men who happened to be priests. One day it hit me that by not taking responsibility, the Catholic Church was making itself a part of the problem. Implicit support is a tricky thing.
