I saw a preview for this episode online. Not only does the plane take off, it actually takes off and flies backwards, stunning the entire cast and causing physicists around the world to rethink everything. I personally didn't think it would take off at all. Boy, was I wrong...

If a plane is traveling at takeoff speed on a conveyor belt, and that conveyor belt is matching the speed in reverse, can the plane take off?

I hate Mythbusters. Adam and Jamie are a couple of quacks. These guys will probably screw it up. One time they tried to make a "magic bullet" that disappeared upon contact with the victim. They tried for three days and couldn't do it, so they concluded that it couldn't be done.
That's really good science. "I couldn't figure out how to make a magic bullet in three days, so I guess it's impossible. There's no way the department of defense, with unlimited time and budget, could do it either."
The show is good when they can complete the task in the myth, but it's pretty useless when they can't do it. I know it's just television, but they really shouldn't make any conclusions when they fail to do something.
What we need to do is to send in mail to Mythbusters concerning the urban legend that high-heeled, heavy shoes are better for running.

Someone update for those of us not in the States who can't watch the show live. Does the plane take off. I'm a vehement "the plane will not take off"-er.
I've been flipping back and forth between shows, but so far they've just been talking about some skydiving stuff and whether or not a random untrained person can land a plane. Nothing that I've seen about a plane on a treadmill, and they didn't mention it in the preview at the beginning of the show.
