I looked on the marathon website and these are legit splits.

However, the fast splits all occur on the parts of the course where it would be a lot easier to cut the course. The first 3 miles wind a lot so cutting the course get you a fast first 10k. It would be possible to cut over to the west to cut off ground inbetween 10k and 15k. It would be very difficult to gut much ground inbetween 15k and 25k and still cross all the chip mats. Cutting south early after 25k cut could a lot of ground off inbetween there and 30k.Cutting the course to get to the 35k mark would be difficult but after 35k it would be very easy to use a side street to cut over to Michigan on your way to the 40k, but after 40k theres really no way to cut the course. I'm prone to think William Jurena figured that he could get away with cheating if he crossed every chipmat.
I hit 10k in 39:58, on my way to a DNF @ 23 miles, and sometime shortly after that I passed an older, heavyset man who clearly had not just run a faster 10k than me. That would actually fit pretty well with Jurena cutting the start to get to the 10k mark early and then cutting over to the 15k.
If I'm wrong I apologize but this clearly seems to be an example of someone blatantly cutting the course at multiple locations. The lack of a 5k split is particularly interesting.
