      • I thunk he put the record away for quite a while. That was insane. It takes a special kind to run alone for the last 17 km and break the world record by that much. At 2:02 pace, pacemakers can barely stay with the leaders beyond half marathon.

        Did I say that was insane?

        I'm not sure what I just witnessed. As noted biggest drop in world record in 41 years. The margin should be getting smaller and smaller. Instead it just bigger, way bigger.

        Unbelievable.

        Until today no one had split under 1:01:00 for the 1st or 2nd half in a marathon. (The 1st half this year at London which is downhill).

        He went 1:01:05 and 1:00:34, running all alone.
