There are 3 distinct cultural mindsets when it comes to things like Boston jackets.
OP is of the first group. ...
Group 3 is genuine elites. They do not care about this discussion.

Sorry but the Boston jacket is the ultimate signal of “hobby jogger”. It means you’re above average but not really that good. And please don’t wear your medal everywhere afterwards.

I'm in Group 3. We put in the work, prove it, and don't have to show off in any way.

I have 4 jackets and wear them proudly. I’m a 2:30 x 5 times and have averaged 60-80 Miles a week for 15 years. 20 plus marathons under 3. Yeah, you probably need to walk back the hobby jogger comment related to wearing the jacket bro.

SO, I made never outrun you or the others here, but I beat all the clowns my age who sleep in on weekends and will likely dies before me.
Great! Glad you posted this - we were looking for your buddy at the finish line yesterday but must have missed him. Can you ask him to get in touch because we have our very special "I ran Boston when the weather wasn't perfect 2018 & I'm really old" jackets to give him. He'll love it because it will differentiate him from the standard jacket wearing hobbyjoggers.

I have a former college teammate who just turned 50, and he ran 3 flat in that garbage yesterday. He can wear his jacket all day. Not a hobby jogger.

I would love to see the credentials that allow you to make up rules about what people can and cannot wear.
Also, just because someone isn't as "fast" as you, doesn't mean they don't work harder. If they earned the right to race Boston and want to wear their jacket, good for them!
By the way, I wear mine running a lot in the winter and I've done a 2:43.23 marathon (not sure where that falls on your mind of Hobby Jogger to Pro).

I could see not desiring to own one myself.
I could not imagine giving two fucks whether someone else wanted to buy one, or looking down on that person for it.
