        No AllieO in the line-up? Anyone out there close to the Broncos know what is going on? Injured? Or just in a later training phase because of the Olympic trials? What's up??

        Update from LetsRun.com. Breaking news: We are reporting that Allie Ostrander is "currently injured and will likely redshirt the cross country season"

      • I have no insider info, but does seem strange to skip Wisco. I don't think BSU is going to place 1 or 2 at regionals. So don't they need the points at Wisco?

        I can see missing Griak due to being on a later training schedule because of oly trials - but missing Wisco, where you are the defending champ, suggests to me that something else might be the cause - like injury, or illness?

      • When you have a runner of Allie's quality, the first rule is DO NO HARM. So, if she is sick, or is feeling sore/injured, then I think he is right to keep her off the line.

        However, at the same time, when you have a runner of Allie's quality, I think Ihmels sort of owes it to the running community (as a courtesy) to state a reason for her being sidelined.

      • Just read the link posted by the OP. Here is the list of BSU runners competing this weekend. It would be nice if Ihmels gave a reason for her being on the sideline. Guess Anna Rohrer, Alice Wright, Brenna Peloquin, and other top gals now have one less runner to worry about... Kind of takes the shine off the meet though.

      • Well, that just threw the ladies race much more wide open. Say about 5-8 ladies have a real good chance of winning if they have a great day.

        I have not heard that Allie is injured, but I haven't actively searched for such news. Stanford kept Grant Fisher off the line until Pac10 last year, so it is certainly not that unusual to keep a healthy top runner from racing until later in the season. Hope she is fine, and just going through a rough training cycle that shouldn't be interrupted by a race.

      • Would be nice to know what is going on with her. Maybe they won't race her till conference or regionals. With her out of this race who takes the title now. I'm thinking Anna Rohrer.

      • Rohrer, Peloquin, Wright would seem to be the top 3 picks. But would not be surprised to see one of the Frazier sisters from NC State, or one of the girls from Providence mixing it up in the top 3-5. Might turn out to be a good and interesting race.

      • Definitely a surprise. When you are not racing the #1 ranked ncaa xc runner, I do think you owe a courtesy statement about the situation to press and running community. Hope we hear something from Ihmels or BSU.

      • A quick look on the Broncos FB page, and Allie is not in any of the photos/videos of the team's sessions/runs. Sucks if she has got another stress fracture.

      • Rats! Was hoping to see her race tomorrow. Hope she is well and just resting. Coach should make some sort of statement on her condition if injured or not the way UO seems to do re Chez.

        It would suck but I'm not surprised. First Seidel, then Allie again. Peloquin better watch it or she will be next. You have to fuel your body correctly; especially at this level!

      • Strong bodies are built during the growing years, particularly during the teens. If the window of opportunity is missed, it might be too late.

        Some of these high school waif runners or former high school waif runners do irreparable damage. They have the bones of a 90 year old.

      • Crap. Was def looking forward to seeing her run in person tomorrow. Hope she is healthy. Need to keep care of US top runners better!
