OK I love Withrow as much as the next person, but it seems to me like the 3 guys who had to beat him, beat him. He didn't beat anybody THAT good. It was a fantastic performance for a college freshman, but we should stop setting expectations so low, at 19-20 the Africans are getting 4th at World Championships. Congrats to Withrow, hope he takes this and builds on it. |

Craig Virgin took 13th in the 1972 AAU race as a HS senior in an Olympic year. I rate Withrow's 4th in the same league. Saying he "didn't really beat anyone", geez, it the national men's long course race, and he finished right behind our country's best. A pretty dumb thing to say, in my estimation! |

he beez a stud. ain't too many others who could've beat him today. if your point is america sucks, point well taken, but right now withrow's one of the best we got. |

He beat a lot of nobodies. Yes, but he finished 2 sec. back of Broe. This has to be seen as a net positive bad-ass result. |

he beat nobodies... you guys are pathetic and this shows your lack of knowledge about the sport... first off, lets see who he beat; ian dobson, a multi all american at stanford and a top 10 ncaa finisher and has pr's on the track of sub 28:40 and sub 13:50... not sure of his marks, so i am being conservative, however they are fast... lehmulke is an olympic marathon qualifier in the marathon and has run around 2:17... also, a sub 28:50 guy joe driscoll... an all american several times while at portland and has run under 28:50 and under 13:50... gilmore... a 2:17 marathoner - may have gone faster recently, not sure... an olympic marathon qualifier... i am not goign to list everyone, but he beat some good runners and finished right behind broe - 7:39, 13:18 and sub 4 minute miler... withrow = stud and has a bright future ahead... STOP putting down runners and being negative... let me guess, if withrow beat ritz then everyone would be on his dick and kissing his ass... at the same time, saying how ritz sucks and all, right... so many losers on this board it's not even funny!!!! |

Broe beat him by 5 seconds, and was doubling so no doubt it would have been much more. Regardless of anything Matt had a money race. |

What I really like about that top ten is that the average age is about 24, and the winner was only 22. They young turks are beginning to make their mark. They're only going to get better in the next 5 years or so. |

I think Dobson had run 28:20's Gilmore had run 2:14 pretty stout race if you ask me. |

Josh and Matt got something in common.....very high mileage!! And Josh do most of his mileage in singles! |

Let us be real here. The HIGH volume mileage college freshmen DO NOT hold on to great NCAA years without mental or physical burnout.Look at Wisco's Lockhart for example;HOT frosh and then burned!!Tegencamp is GREAT at times but cannot hold without injury.Let us hope that Withrow holds

But who cares about NCAA? They will turn pro this year! |

I think Withrow had a great run today. I am excited to see what he can do at Worlds (assuming he goes). In fact, all the distance powerhouses had some good showings. Stanford is sending four to worlds. CU had two narrow misses, but Pasciuto had a great run. Wisco had Eagon as well as Withrow. Can't wait for worlds. |

I love this, I was pretty sure I was gonna get a little heat for that one, but I don't think it's putting Withrow down at all to say that this wasn't exceeding my expectations or his ability in any way. He's got that killer instinct ala Ritz that you need in xc. He showed the country last summer when he outkicked Rupp and McDougal at FLCC. I fully expect him to become America's best at XC,besides Ritz, in a few years. |

He outkicked SHADRACK TOOOOOOO! Withrow rules. |

Freshmen don't finish often in the 4th of anything at senior nats. For you, genius boy, to be on here saying you're not surprised, you fully expected this, he didn't really beat anyone, my expectations weren't exceeded in any way, he's got killer instinct, he showed everyone, all it really means is you're a blithering blathering idiot. Enough already! Why can't you say Withrow did great and leave yourself out of it, oh great one? |

Good point. I don't deserve any credit for what Withrow did. I do, however, deserve some credit for not being a little kid who attacks people online. Ok? Hope you feel better now. |

OK, apology accepted. Try to work on your pronouns. Withrow ran great. Your expectations no one cares about. |
