| Can you spare a dime? |

Well it had to happen. Not too happy with my job and it turned out my employer was not too happy with me. Who knew? Not me. He installed key logging software on my computer since he thought I was spending all day on the internet. I was. After 2 weeks he caned my behind today. He told me I was spending "hours and hours f ing around on letsrun.com and other sites." I said well at least they wern't porn sites. He was not impressed. So Johnson bros, I need a job and you got me fired. When Do I start? (no joke). |

It's always someone else's fault? YOU got yourself fired. Everyone else, please learn from this guy's mistake. |
| No matter |

Sort of like getting fired from your job as a plumber because you enjoyed playing in the shit too much. |

No, you got fired because you were being paid to do your work and you weren't. Simple as that. |

By the way, "Can you spare a dime?", learn from this lesson yourself. It's water under the bring, get on with the next chapter in your life. This could be a blessing in disguise. |

I was spending a ton of time on letsrun when I first started working at my current job. I probably spend about 5 to 10 minutes a day (if I get online at all) on this site now, and still get the same information or benefit as I did when I was spending more time on it than that. |

Maybe trackhead and the "5000 Meter" movie producers can pay you to start threads about them all day long. |

Is it possible to detect key logging software on your computer? Doesn't matter. Today was my last day at work (I had resigned voluntarily for a new position). But I had spent hours and hours at a time on the internet (the majority on letsrun.com) sometimes for many days in a row. No one ever said anything to me and if they did, well I really was ready to leave that job anyways. And my ability to abuse letsrun.com while on the dime is a testament to just how redundant my job was anyways. Good luck to you...probably was a blessing in disguise. |

There are two types of keyloggers. One is software and it may be detectable with a virus scan, the other is a triple-A battary sized connecter between your keyboard and the CPU. I doubt that this was an actualy keylogger (as they are rather primitive and only record key strokes and not mouse clicks), more like a trojan style networking tool that kept tabs on the computer all day. It would not be difficult to monitor a computer from the proxy or router - the actualy workstation can be left untouched. |

I used to be an employer until it got too expensive and now I do everything myself. You cheated your employer who was paying all kinds of costs you have no idea about,(unemployment tax, employers share of social security, workmens comp etc), and now you want the Brojos to bail out your slacker's ass? Cry me a river. The shit I read on this message board never ceases to amaze me. |

Yeah but did your employer's give you fair warning? Shit, you got a desk job and a computer with Internet access it's not like you can't complete your duties, answer the phone, and put three to ten posts a day on Lets Run.Com and still be a fuctional worker. Well, yeah, to be honest, me and at least one other buddy have tried to quit completely with the feeling that it does detract from our productivity. We always come back. |

The thing is, if you're spending hours a day on it and your boss doesn't notice without logging it.. Well, that's kind of the situation I'm in. I spend hours a day on it.. if they gave me more work I'd be happy to do it, but it's boring and unchallenging and I always finish whatever they give me and try to ask for more - they're usually out! So what I'm really saying is, if they don't even notice, and think you're doing your job productively, there's a problem there. |
