I see Webb's racing schedule for 2013:

- USA 5000m Championships
- Chick Fil-A 5k
- Turkey Trot 10k

Nothing Else

I wish he'd try a triathlon. He could make the team for Rio if he started training now.

Nice, penetrating interview. What a tortured soul. As unkind as the chatter here has been over the years, I think most of us would love to see him get another taste of the greatness he had twice in his career.

If he can't, I hope he finds an attainable life goal that brings him more joy than running has. As hard as he works and as faithful he is to his dream, he deserves more.

I wish him the best. I hope he finds his calling in 5000. I think its possible. He maybe too muscular for marathon but who knows. He has been through a lot.

Ryan did a nice job with Webb. Since we know most of you don't have 25 mintues to spare, we have recapped the interviews here:

The only thought that pops into my head is, when are we going to stop caring so much about Alan Webb? Guy hasn't pr'ed in any useful distance since 2007 (indoors or outdoors or even xc). At some point this guy has got to stop being a headline news generating person.

well, as someone pointed out recently, the Rolling Stones haven't had a hit since the disco era, but they could sell out a stadium. So my guess is that people will still want to watch AW run.

True, however the Rolling Stones can at least replicate their performances each and every year.

It's not just that we want to see him run. It's that we remember the talent that was there not too long ago and think that he can still bring that out. The guy was a miler and ran 13:10 and 27:34. If he can just be patient then I think he can at least get close to that again.

Webb is a victim of modern training philosophy.

I really hope he quits that year by year kind of thinking.

Webb reminds me of that has-been rock & roll singer that still believes he can do it even though everyone in the background is quietly shaking their heads.

I will never understand people who want to bash Webb. He has accomplished more before turning 30 than anyone who posts on this website. He's been at the top of the sport and the bottom, and he doesn't quit. For everything he has accomplished personally, he also deserves a significant amount of credit for the recent resurgence of American distance running.
I will always be cheering for him.

You look at guys like Rod Dixon, Brendan Foster, Keino they were fast milers that successful pro LD/road careers. But you also see alot of miler types who couldnt make the transition. I guess the question is can his musculoskeletal stucture work for the longer distances. The other piece is his temperment - can he hang in there lap after lap (or mile) at steady pace to use his kick in the end? Will be fun to watch!
