(December 21, 2012) USADA announced today that Maggie Vessey of Beverly Hills, California, an athlete in the sport of track & field, has tested positive for a prohibited substance found in her medication and has accepted a public warning and loss of results for her rule violation."

Canrenone is banned, but I doubt that she was intentionally trying to dope by taking this medication. This seems more like a case of someone not reading all the ingredients or getting poor medical advice than a blatant attempt to cheat.

Still sucks for her, though.

I thought athletes were suppose to get the OK from USADA before taking medication.

Honest mistake. Athletes should be on top of what's in their prescription meds, but it's easy to overlook something like a skin-care product.

Athlete takes steroids, athlete takes diuretic to mask steroids but she had a prescription. Would you also have a prescription from a doctor to produce in case you tested positive, derrrrrr!

And just how do you expect that Vessey would have gained access to a prescription medication without a prescription? Maybe she has her own pharmaceutical lab?

Also, the level of canrenone she had on board was evidently not sufficient to produce the sort of diuresis necessary to effectively clear steroids from her system.

So, it appears that an honest mistake was most likely made. It happens.

You never ran at a high level because its not hard at all to get a perscription. I'm sorry to kill your dreams, but she dopes.

It really doesn't matter whether it was accidental or intentional.

Right now she has strike one on her resume. She's tested positive.

It's exactly like the scene in Casino where the two jackpots go off in the same day.

"Either you were in on it or you were too stupid to notice. either way I can't have you working here anymore."

Maggie is either very dumb or was cheating. It can't be that hard to get an O.K from USADA or whomever to take a prescription, therefore I believe she was trying to take it on purpose knowing it wasn't legal.

Look, I was in the testing pool for many years. EVERY SINGLE TIME I was prescribed something to take whether it be orally, topically, nasally, etc. I looked it up on USADAs web site. It is incredibly easy to do. You just type in the drug name and it tells you if it's banned, if you need a TUE, etc. I mean honestly, there is absolutely no excuse.
