Jager's AR is every bit as impressive as Ritz's, yet Ritz got a black page and Jager didn't. The brojos clearly discriminate against guys with blond, poofy hair and headbands. If he had short brown hair like Ritz or Mark Block, he would definitely have gotten a black page. Discuss. |

When the brojos do that type of thing they put in time to make that happen. Maybe they don't have the time, maybe it's less significant especially considering the Games are just a few weeks away. I have never known the brojos to skip a beat when it comes to track & field coverage. I am sure they have something eventually planned. |

Steeplechase isn't racewalking, but it's not a regular event either. |

A 13:20 guy breaking the AR proves how weak the SC is. |

I was just as surprised as the next guy, but Jager is good, we all knew that going into the race. Maybe not AR good, but most people though he was going to run around 8:10ish. On the other hand, Ritz came out of freakin' no where. 13:16 to 12:56 and chasing down Bekele??? Dang bruh! |

8:06.8 is just not that impressive...Simon Vroemen kind of time. |
| bored now... |

According to the IAAF tables, 8:06 is worth 12:54 in the 5k and and 3:29 in the 5k. Not that impressive? Get a clue. |

Brojos are waiting for when he drops a sub-8:00 in the Oly Final. |
| Huh?? |

Huh? Not a "regular event"? WTF does that even mean? It's in the Olympics for crissakes! |

The steeplechase was a much more popular event thirty years ago, back when Americans like Henry Marsh were good at it. Americans have always been bored with sports or events that they do not excel in. If and when Jager reaches a level where he can compete for medals, the steeplechase's popularity will rise again. Trust me on that one. |

Ashton Eaton didn't get the black page for his WR at the Oly trials. |

Gotta agree with the OP on this one, not just because there's no black screen, but because y'all gave the quote of the day to Willis. Talk about turning your back on a fellow American. If I were Jager and somebody from LetsRun tried to talk to me after a race in the future, I'd tell them to piss off. |

I think it's pretty safe to say that Jager is definitely faster than a 13:20 runner right now. His 5k pr was 3 years ago and even with his injury problems, he has gotten substantially faster. I honestly am surprised that this didn't warrant a black page, but I bet when (and I think when really is a fair assessment given his progression so far and the time he has left) he breaks 8:00, he will get it. |

What AR did Ritz get a Black page for? My memory is bad but I don't remember that. But nice intitial post. Very funny. I get it. We hate blondes. |

Rojo I seriously think this deserves a black page. He got a pr by 11 seconds, set the American record and it is only his 5th steeple ever. |

You're right, 3:29 in the 5k is really impressive. And Rojo, they're talking about when Ritz got the AR in the 5k after the 2009 world champs. |

They're saving the black page for the Olympics. It wouldn't be as cool if they did it every time anything significant happened. |

When Rono held all the WR's his steeple was 8:05, 3K was 7:32 and 5K was 13:06. Seems about right for Jager as well, with the upside that he seems to be finally healthy and improving rapidly in both fitness and technique/psyche. |

Yes it is, plus its not a 2nd choice event, the Ethiopians cannot get near Kenyans on the s/c despite matching them on the flat After so many years surely a black page performance |
