I just got an exclusive interview with Roger Jennings of Flashresults.com, considered by many to be the best timer in the world and the man responsible for reading the women's 100 picture. Great job getting that interview, Rojo! His explanation makes sense, as the NBC angle from the "crow's nest" was also obstructed. It looked like the runner in Lane 1 probably dipped her torso in front of Felix's, but you couldn't actually see it. I'd like to see the photo from the inside of the track. In this day and age, I wonder if we'll get other photos of the finish from folks in the stands? |

I like how the judge (who had to make an initial decision) realized he didn't know, so immediately went for help. The right thing to do. Seeing quite a bit of that so far at these trials. |

Careful BroJos. The "drawing of lots" from the USATF rulebook looks to be written only in cases where there's another round to run (prelims to semis, semis to final, etc.). This tie was in a final and, obviously, there's no further round, since this is the U.S. National Champs meet. I'd argue that it should stay a tie. That does leave the problem about who runs in London. If the tie was for 1&2, or 2&3, there'd be no problem. The USATF rulebook looks like it didn't plan for a third place tie. Four names (three plus an alternate) get named by the national federation to the Olympic team, so any decisions don't have to be made quickly. There won't be a run-off during the Trials. |

RUN OFF!!! This would be great for the sport; one-on-one, high stakes, great theater. If there's no specific rule governing it, put them both on the track to find out who is faster and have them prove it. |

Muahaha! You may have written an article about this, but the subject, and everybody involved in it, can't get away from Justin Gatlin's Jell-O wrestling tie-break. Censorship won't change that. Nor does it change the significance of Foxxy's boobs - photo finish, or Jell-O wrestle. |
