As road rashed mentioned, Deschutes is hosting a beer garden just outside the stadium and there is also the "London Pub" in the festival area. Plenty of places to get beer, but in '08 you couldn't take it into the stadium itself. You had to drink it in the festival area. It's better than no beer, but sort of ridiculous too. Can you imagine going to a baseball game and NOT being able to drink a beer while watching the game?! Does anyone know if the policy has changed at all? |

It seems to me serving beer at track meets could dramatically help promote the sport. Even better would be letting people bet on the events.

Yes. Let's turn our annual national championship track meet into the Kentucky Derby. Sounds like fun. Can we have an infield party zone, too? |

Turning TF into the Kentucky Derby would be the best thing that ever happened to the sport. Yes, create an infield party zone. Allow betting. All great ideas. It would turn it into an enjoyable event for the masses, who can't stand watching it for 5 seconds at this point.even better, recruit attractive women and give them free or discounted booze to attend. Floods of men will follow, party starts, all of a sudden track is cool. |

[/quote] I bet on Diamond League events at Pinnacle -- and odds are up on most olympic running events. Unlikely anyone will offer anything on the trials. Most of the European sportsbooks like Betfair and Paddy Power are pretty good about offering options on bigger events. |

I was in Eugene last week and had some good beers at the Ninkasi Brewery on 3rd and Blair. Try the Imperiale -- super strong and tasty. |

I know that the NCAA has always denied beer service for track and field meets. It is a nice step-up to learn that the Trials in Eugene will have lots of options (and a major sponsor-Deschutes Brewery) for beer withing the festival grounds. The Eugene promoters would only have to add "escorts", gambling, strippers and clothing malfunctions to excite LR posters. |
