0.24 seconds off Jordan Hasay's High School Record, leading a great deal, 85 degrees out and a bit windy.

Just a sophomore. Wow.
The times are changin'

Ouch for Chapus. Good run for Meier, though. Both Cain and Meier should significantly improve on that for World Juniors if they can stay healthy and sharp.

She just throws these times out like they're nothing. This year she's run 4:14, 4:16, 4:17, 4:19, 4:39 mile, 4:24...not to mention her 2:03 and 9:30 3000. Very impressive stuff.

Side note: I guess Cami Chapus and the heat don't mix. CA State..this? Disappointing finish for her but she's had a great career.
she's very good

That should get her into the Trials, shouldn't it?

Although if I were her I'd do the 800 at the Trials as a tune up for the 1500 at World Juniors the next week.

You got that right! Mary has yet to run in an open competition race. For HS only competition she has had possibly the greatest season ever. This should put her in the OLY Trials where she should be able to throw down a real fast one. I say she she can approach sub 4:10. Should be fun to see! Go get em Mary!!!

Unfortunately this meet was a double-crater for the Harvard-Westlake duo: Weissenbach DNS and Chapus wilting. Best of luck to them in the future.

Wouldn't she need at least a 4:12 or 4:13 to get into the trials. It looks like she is probably a couple of seconds off. How many spots are there?

And only 24 off the world record! Pretty good considering it's a doped performance!

Not quite. Only 30 get in, and there are 38 women ahead of her. Depending on who of those doesn't run it's a squeaker.

Interesting that she's only 1.5 seconds behind Hasay for the season, and still has only run in HS/Jr meets where she dominates. I agree she is in around 4:11 shape.

Looks like there at least 35 women that have made the "A" Standard in the 1500, and Cain is almost two seconds off that standard. The 800 Trials may have a place for Cain. If so, Cain will have a shot at Mary Decker's soph 800 record of 2:02.29.
As I read IAAF age standards, Cain cannot compete in Spain. She was born in 1996 and I do not think she is old enough. She will make it on age for the World Youth Championships in 2013.

I count her as No. 30 for the 800, which takes 32 but with lots of people ahead in the 1500, which as noted takes 30.
